We ended our vacation with a special dinner here. Service was very good for Oaxaca where it tends to be slow. I'm not crazy about mezcal, but the long list of mezcal cocktails is tempting. A wonderful dining room open to the sky.

Amazing decor and lovely surroundings, the food was great but I would advise to book as we managed to talk our way in for a lunch reservation.

Love mexican food, but in this city my wife and I found a perfect place for our romantic dinner...
The place is very very beautiful, the food is delicious, and the service for us was grateful.
In the hotel where we stayed, was the first recommendation of the restaurants around de city, and wow! wonderful.
Thank u.
John.

We went to Los Danzantes almost every night we were in Oaxaca City and it was absolutely wonderful. We especially loved the duck tacos and the spinach salad with hibiscus dressing. The mixed drinks were pretty good and they also have a house wine made by Adobe Guadalupe (a winery in Baja), which is quite good and not too expensive. And, the cascada de chocolate is a must for desert. The atmosphere is very relaxed and it is set back a little from the street, making it very quiet and a nice place to have a long meal. They take reservations - which are not required, but would be a must in the busier seasons - and it would be a very nice place to take a larger group.

When we went, Los Danzantes was ranked no. 1 in Oaxaca. Usually I question these rankings - in Santa Fe NM they make very little sense. But this place is really terrific. It has an open roof in good weather. They say they try to use local foods, and are creatively Mexican. it's more like the new, creative restaurants in Mexico city than traditional Oaxacan food, which makes it really wonderful. I had the tuna appetizer and the vermicelli main course, both of them delicious, and the right size. There were 10 of us at 3 tables and everyone loved their meal. And the service was delightful.
We had tried to go the night before and couldn't get a table. That evening it was very noisy. But the night we went, all the tables were full and it was pleasantly peaceful.
