We read the reviews and really didn't believe a B&B could be this good - but it is! This was our first trip to Mexico City, so we were a little apprehensive. Our hosts at RTH were gracious and helpful. They found us at the airport (for a reasonable fee), called our taxis, gave directions by phone when we were in a taxi, gave us directions to a nearby church, gave terrific tips on restaurants, and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. From our first morning greeting from Abril (bringing her some treats didn't hurt!) to our evening get-togethers in the living room, we always felt welcomed. Breakfast included a traditional selection and was scrumptious. We found Mexico City as safe and clean as any other major city. We will definitely return to our new home-away-from-home!

A unique, personalized experience in a great location. Abril the dog (who we walked at the lovely nearby Parque Mexico) was a real bonus!

We stayed here for four nights in June and loved it. It felt like you were staying with friends! Of all the places we stayed on our 3 week trip, this was the favourite. The rooms are very nice - not big but big enough. The best part is the social aspect. The great common areas are so comfy and you're made to feel at home. Guests are encouraged to socialise and I never sat for long without being offered a wine! The staff were super helpful - and you've also got to love a place with you a dog. The area is lovely and safe. There are lots of great cafes and restaurants within blocks, there's a supermarket and wine shop a few blocks away, the metro is close (the Mexico city bargain at 3 pesos/30 cents a ride!). I would recommend this place to anyone - if you can get in. We tried to come back for two nights but they were booked out. Book ahead and you'll be happy you did.

This was our favourite hotel in Mexico.
The staff are all so friendly, welcoming and helpful it doesn't feel like a hotel at all. It is more like staying at a friends or a relatives place.
We got lots of tips from Ernesto in relation of things to do and places to eat.
Breakfast was great with a local specialty on offer every morning.
The location is great and allows you easy access to Mexico City through walking or catching the Metro. There are also lots of restaurants and bars in the area within easy walking distance.
We can't wait to be able to head back and stay here again.
Make sure you have the address written down because taxi drivers have trouble finding it.

From the moment that Abril (the golden labrador) and Jorje (the owner) greet you, this delightful oasis of peace and elegance, located in a quiet tree-lined street in La Condesa, gives you a feeling of relaxed wellbeing that is very hard to find. The rooms are spacious, with the most comfortable beds I have ever found in a hotel; the atmosphere is very friendly and informal. Breakfast is good continental, with a savoury hot dish on offer every day, and is eaten either at the long table in the dining room, chatting to other guests, or at smaller tables in the dappled sunlight of the tiled courtyard, with the sound of bubbling water from the fountain. The staff are friendly and attentive - without being obtrusive - and happy to help with maps of the city or advice on places to visit. For as long as my daughter lives in Mexico City and I visit her there, I will not be looking for anywhere else to stay, because for me, this is perfect.

Booked the Penthouse after reading the great reviews on Trip Advisor. The penthouse is a small apartment with kitchenette and a terrace the faces the street with an attached 1BD/1BA "casita." The place was so warm, comfortable and QUIET. Went with my partner and another friend. The Penthouse comes well equipped with fridge, small stove top, dishes/flatware/glasses, sofas and dining table, TVs in the bedrooms, stereo with plenty of "chill" CDs, and is beautifully decorated. Lots of windows allow nice cross breeze. There's even a gas fireplace in the main bedroom for the chilly nights.

We all could not say enough good things about the Red Tree House, Jorge and Ernesto, their staff, the service, the friendliness of the other guests, the incredible breakfasts, Abril, the Golden Retriever.

It truly was a quiet, relaxing Oasis in the big city. We had brought ear plugs for noise just in case, but the area is actually very quiet after dark and we never used them. Breakfast was delicious, consisting of fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts, various breads and pastries, juices, coffee and a delicious Mexican breakfast specialty each day. The guys are very helpful with recommendations and assistance.

Favorite restaurant was: Litoral, on Nuevo Leon

My husband and I stayed here just over a week in April 2010. Our trip was part vacation and part conference. The staff at Red Tree House helped us navigate conference locations, pressed our suits, and were all around wonderful to us during the conference days. The vacation part of our stay was wonderful as well and I would recommend this B and B to both business and vacation travelers. Located in lovely and safe Condesa with a fantastic staff, and gorgeous rooms, we will never stay anywhere else. Jorge and his staff surpassed all expectations of excellent service. Breakfast each morning is delicious and portions are large enough to have a light lunch late in the day. The rooms are lovely with modern, clean baths.
