I had found this place for my parents who were travelling with us to Mexico City. We stayed in a hotel at the top of Parque de Mexico for two nights and then here for a night.

At 85USD/night this is not by any means a cheap sleep in Mexico City but the price is justified. The decor of this B&B (but It's more a boutique hotel really) is modern, striking and very attractive. The common areas are full with interesting artefacts, books and works of art. There is a hi-fi, grand piano, internet and a guest kitchen. At the rear of the hotel there is a courtyard garden around which many of the rooms are located.

The bedrooms are magnificently appointed and designed in a contemporary and individual style. In-room safes, ceiling fan, wifi access and cable TV. There is also a very thoughtfully compiled guest handbook with many useful entries of restaurants, shops, bars, taquerias etc.... this is a real help. The guest kitchen has a supply of bottled water for guests which again is commendable. Bathroom was well appointed and there was ample hot water - would have liked a little more water pressure but this was adequate.

Breakfast is included and is an excellent selection of fruit, cereal, yogurt etc with a hot dish prepared by the muchachas. We had some really good blue corn quesadillas when we stayed with a particularly good salsa verde (hot!)

So.. by this point we were thinking that this place is good... then there is the staff....

All members of staff really went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we wanted. They were really helpful and suggested some sight seeing itineraries that we could build in to our schedule as well as recommending bars, restaurants, shops etc.. they were genuinely interested in their guests and take their role, to make sure everyone is completely satisfied, very seriously indeed.

This is a truly exceptional place to stay. Full marks! Would definitely return when I am next in Mexico City.

No wonder it's the number 1 B&B in Mexico!

Craig, Jorge and Ernesto are wonderful hosts, so friendly, chatty and they really care that your stay is enjoyable.

The rooms are smaller than others we'd had in Mexico, but were still plenty big enough (we were used to two double beds and a room so big there's loads of dead space, which we don't really need). Very stylish and modern too. Shower was the best we'd had and the room was well cleaned daily.

The breakfasts were great, with cereal, bread, fruit, tea, coffee and a different Mexican food each day (sometimes Mexican omlette, sometimes Tamales, etc) and if we wanted a tea or coffee any other time in the day, the hosts would get us one, no probs at no cost. Free water is also available in the kitchen.

Some nights, Craig would offer wine to the guests (good quality too!) and sit for a chat. They really treat everyone who stays like a member of the family.

We also managed to persuade Ernesto to take us to Luche Libre (he said he was a keen wrestling fan). He'll probably hate me for saying this, but if you want to go to the wrestling, try and twist his arm to take you! He got us front row seats for 150 pesos and we all had a great time.

It's also an easy walk to the metro, with excellent local restaurants and we felt safe the whole time. If we return to Mexico City, we simply couldn't stay anywhere else.

Red Tree House is a stylish, comfortable, lovely Bed and Breakfast centrally located in the cosy Condesa. Jorge (the owner), Greg, Ernesto and the rest of the staff are very kind and helpful.
This is by far the best place to stay in Mexico City!

What a fantastic place! We loved our 5 night stay at the Red Tree House. Mine hosts Craig, Jorge, Ernesto & Tessy were all fantastic. We stayed in the Penthouse which comprised 2 large bedrooms, a great lounge, kitchen area, 1 bathroom and a large terrace. Although there were only 2 of us it would be perfect for 2 couples or a family.
Breakfast is served every morning at a large communal table with a local dish to try each day, fantastic. This was a chance to share plans for the day with other guests. In the evenings it's possible to sit in the lovely lounge, perhaps with a glass of wine, to share experiences and restaurant tips.
The Condesa area is wonderful, you could go to a different restaurant every night for a year! Fantastic walking and people watching. Lots of great Art Deco houses to admire. Easy access to everything in Mexico City. Thank you all for a wonderful stay. We hope to return again one day.

The Red Tree House is such a gem. Our stay there was flawless. The decor inside and outside is absolutely stunning; the rooms spotlessly clean; the beds are very comfortable, with plush and soft linens. After our reservations were made over the Internet, they began ensuring that our stay would be perfect. Via email, they gave us directions in Spanish to give the taxi driver at the airport, which was a terrific help. In advance, they arranged for a driver for our two days of excursions, based on our personal sightseeing agendas. The driver was friendly and professional, and he arrived promptly each day, dropped us at the museums/attractions we had chosen, and he was waiting outside each one to pick us up when we left. It was incredibly convenient, secure, and a great bargain. They also have many books on Mexico and Mexico City, and Ernesto, the manager, actually loaned our driver a book of detailed maps so that he could find some of the lesser known places we wanted to visit. In addition, they have a computer of guests to use to find attractions, do flight confirmations, or print out boarding passes. They have WiFi for guests and in-room safes as well.

The level of personal service at the Red Tree House is stunning. We were met by Ernesto, the manager, who is not only wonderful in his job, but also a world class Sweetie. He helped us in so many ways. When we had problems with our bus tickets, he called the company and resolved it. He looked after us so well that he even arranged for ground transportation for us a week after we had left the Red Tree House! Jorge, the host, is so friendly and constantly ensures that everyone is comfortable. Tessy was around in the evenings keeping the level of service perfect. Her floral arrangements in the house are stunning and dramatic. I've never seen such a personable and effective team at any place I've ever stayed. They make every guest feel secure and relaxed in a large and hectic city.

In addition, the neighborhood that the Red Tree House is in, Condesa, is really a haven from the bustle of the city. You can walk the tree-lined streets, and a lovely park and great restaurants are only steps away. We walked to nearby restaurants every night. Thanks to the staff at the Red Tree House, and their help with our drivers, we all agreed that our stay in Mexico City couldn't have been any more perfect. Besos all around to the Red Tree House staff.

Ernesto, Craig and Jorge have created a real gem here. The rooms are individually designed, very clean and well maintained. Facilities are excellent with superb breakfast and comfortable guest areas where you can meet and chat to other guests who all seem to respond to the amiable welcome and are easily drawn into the friendly and chatty atmosphere. Will definitely be on our must stay list next time we are down Mexico way.
