“Great Seafood”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

We just spent three nights in La Condesa, and of those three nights the meal at Lampuga was the best. Despite the fact that the restaurant name is equivalent to Mahi-Mahi, we didn't order that dish. We started with the highly-recommended Tuna Tostadas, and they were almost a meal in themselves. We were somewhat surprised that they were served cold, but they were very tasty.

After the tostada, neither my wife nor I could eat an entire entree, so we agreed on the Salmon and split the order. The server was very accommodating, and our salmon arrived with two plates. It was delicious! Served simply with a coating of butter, it was prepared perfectly and the portion, once again, was ample.

The wine and beer selection was more than adequate, the atmosphere pleasant, and the service was attentive and responsive to our wants and needs, despite our very limited knowledge of the language. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience. When we return to Mexico City, Lampuga will be on our itinerary.

“Good seafood”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

After spending a week in mexico city eating tacos we were looking for a change of taste towards some thing different. Lampuga has great seafood options. I tried their chile relleno stuffed with mahi maui fish. Interesting twist to the classic dish. Loved it. I also noticed some interesting options like octopus but did not get a chance to try. Next time :-)

“Great food, one of the best service in town!”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

As we entered, we were greeted by a very friendly hostess, who immediately apologized when she realized she had our last name in the reservation spelled incorrectly. This has never happened anywhere else in Mexico City because they just assume that foreigners will just accept such mistakes! Our waiter was really nice, and relatively fast, seeing how busy the place got during lunch.

Now to the food. For starters, we had the salami de pulpo (octopus carparccio), one of the most tender ones we've eaten in Mexico. The salpichon de jaiba (deep fried bits of soft shell crab) was also delicious bit. Cesar salad was average, but the clam chowder is one of the most refined and delicious you can find in Mexico City. With so many yummy starters, we just shared a grilled salmon as a main, which was fresh, well seasoned and tasty. We didn't realize what we were getting ourselves into for desserts when we ordered a ganache de chocolate (pure chocolate ice cream goodness) and flan de coco (a little too sweet for our taste).

Definitely worth a visit or revisit!
