I visited the Condesa branch of this restaurant last weekend for a peaceful, pleasant lunch. I've heard that it's especially popular for breakfast -- and the inviting pastries and baked goods for sale in the bakery at the front of the restaurant suggest why. Our meal was well-presented, service was professional, and the courtyard dining very pleasant. I've eaten a lot of meals at unmemorable restaurants in la Condesa. This is one to remember and return to.

I visited the Condesa restaurante in Condesa, a friend recommended it, and said that the pastries were good or very good, the store and place are nicely decorated, and the cakes or pastries look nice, just look, the taste maybe good for what I have already tried in several hotels and coffee places in Mexico City, not your city for pastries....they are far from Europe.
The courtyard is cute and homey, as for food it is an eclectic mexican menu, with some items that look international or french......I had some fetuccine with seafood and mushrooms and it was good....just that.....coffee/capuccino was mediocre and the cheese cake with fruits was ok.....otherwise, the service was fairly good....and no complaints there......cannot say that is the best place I have been, but will continue to find a good pastry place in town....Mexico City.

Hated the milkshake, returned it and was charged for it. The food was eatable but not good at all.

I have tried both Matisse, the one in Condessa for Breakfast and the one in Polanco on several occasions. Lets's consider that it is cheap and well located, full stop. Last time,we found a stapple (yes, the metal type) in the tomatoe salad that they serve while you wait for your disches. We notified the fact to the waiter, but they really don't give a dam. I will not go back, there are many more pleasant places in Polanco.

Matisse has a beautiful little courtyard to have a coffee and their homemade pastries are really special. After that it all goes downhill. The meals are ok but nothing special and the service is really bad. Overall its nice for a coffee and a pastry but not much more.
