This is a traditional restaurant in the heart of San Angel neighborhood. I cannot recommend the food, it lacks flavor and is carelessly prepared. Serviçe is unattentive and a bit pushy, you feel like they just want to turn around the table so that the next group of tourists can sit. But I must admit that the place has great charm, from the lovely central courtyard to the more ornate dinning areas makes it worth the visit. The margaritas are served in charming silver pitchers cooled in ice buckets, so we recommend to just sit out on the patio and have a drink. Great place for people watching, some great characters can be seen walking about.

For traditional margaritas, or a tequila or a mezcal, in terms of presentation, quality and ambiance it's hard to beat the courtyard bar at the San Angel Inn. I also tried their tacos arrachero and they were of excellent quality. A nice place for snacks and drinks to impress your colleagues, friends and partners.

Too many locals suggested to avoid this for meals, so this is exactly what I did - but for a drink, it is difficult to beat the courtyard. Margaritas are great, and you can accompany them with all sorts of finger foods - in my case, tacos arrachera were close to sublime. Extremely pleasant ambiance, perfect to relax and impress.

When in Mexico City, dining at the San Angel Inn is a must. It's located in upscale Colonia San Angel, about a mile west of Insurgentes Sur boulevard on Altavista. The ambience is impressive, a Spanish-style building built around a huge patio (an enclosed courtyard), providing both inside and outside dining. The menu offers both Continental and Mexican dishes, of which they excel in each. It's a little pricey, as befits elegant restaurants, but the service and quality of its kitchen offerings is outstanding. We'll definitively return the next time we're in Mexico's capital city.

I've been going there since I was a kid and is still the BEST Restaurant in Mexico City.

Try the Margaritas here, the BEST margaritas EVER!
For appetizer try the Crepas de Huitlacoche or the Cebiche Acapulqueno, For Main Course try the Robalo Papillote and for dessert the classic "Fresas con Crema Bavaria". If you still have room for coffee try the Cafe Diablo, you will not regret it, it's a whole show how they prepare it!

Bon apetit!
