“Wow! What a place!”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We loved El Cardenal for breakfast. The service is impeccable and the food was excellent. We liked it so much that we went 3 times in one week. The juices were delicious, the hot chocolate was superb and the bread and pastries were a highlight. We were staying in the Centro Histórico, so we visited the Calle las Palmas location 3 times. We also went to the location in the Hilton hotel on Avenida Juárez on Sunday. We got there at 10 am and had a minimal wait (5 minutes) but when we left the entire lobby area was packed with people waiting for tables. All in all, I like the Centro Histórico location (3 floors!!) best. This is a must!

“Visiting Zócalo? Don't miss El Cardenal”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

El Cardenal is a great Mexican restaurant that has basically become a traditional restaurant. The food is excellent, the waiters are nice and the environment is just perfect to have a calm dinner or a calm lunch after a long day under the sun at the city center.

“Restaurante El Cardenal”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

Real mexican taste in its original environment served traditionally in "molcajete" surrounded by unique atmosphere of the city center which brings the feeling of past centuries. Often visited by traditional musicians.

“Excellent food, near Zocalo square”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

El Cardenal, just some meters from the Zocalo, offers excellent Mexican food, in a very nice setting. The restaurant is located in a XIX old private house. On lunch time can be very crowed and is needed to wait to get a seat.
