On Feb 10 I enjoyed my 5th visit to Danubio. It is a pleasent walk from hotels in the centro city. I have found the food to be of the highest quality and the service to be the best. I always have the shrimp cocktail and the whole red snapper with garlic butter. I have dined at several Mexico City restaurants but none better than Danubio. Busy in the early and mid afternoon but not so much in the evening. If you are staying downtown ;you can't beat Danubio. They have other selections on the menu but I can't pass up the fish. We were lokking for a candy store in the centro area and the manager produced a map and gave us directions. They also have English speaking waiters and English menus. Very helpful.

After a slow, traffic clogged taxi ride thru very interesting areas of central Mexico City we arrived at a great relic of a very old restaurant. Excellent service brought us wonderful giant shrimp and even better langoustines. While quite spacious, the restaurant gets packed for lunch by mid afternoon. We will return here every time we are in the city.

We had a pleasant 2 course dinner in a restaurant which we found afterwards is really a lunch place when you may have to queue. The food was good and reasonably priced but we were rushed though dinner as they were waiting to close at 9.00 pm and we were the last people there. Two courses in 35 minutes isn't restful, hence the comment but the food is good. Advice is to go for lunch.

This is a traditional European-style (non Mexican) restaurant, dating from the 1930s (walls are decorated with notes written by famous Mexican figures about the place, some of them with quite anodyne messages). You feel a very nice taste of times gone. The fish soup ("sopa de pescado") is SUPERB, but all seafood here is excellent. A little crowded, not exactly the spot for a romantic rendezvous. Prices are ok. Recommended to make a reservation in advance.

This Basque-Mexican place, A short walk from Bellas Artes Metro station, has been in what is now a gritty corner of downtown Mexico City for a long time. If coming all the way here, I recommend splurging on the sopa verde and the langostinos (order them al ajillo). Expect very professional old fashioned service and traditional food.
