This shop actually invented. Class of tacos in the 1960's. They are now a franchise but you can and should visit the original shop in Av Tamaulipas at Condesa neighborhood.

Tacos al pastor is a Mexican version of Gyros. The best way to eat them is to stand right next to the guy preparing the tacos. The preparation and serving of it is a show worth a visit by itself.

The tacos are relatively small snacks and you can eat a few of them.

Best time to visit is late at night, after a night out or after drinks. It is open until the early hours in the morning.

An essential part of Mexico city culture.

This corner taqueria claims to have invented Al Pastor. Not sure if it’s true, but the tacos were delicious. We ordered them four, five at a time, the taquero patiently waiting for the rotating spit of meat to slightly sear on the outside before deftly slicing the pork, and then tossing chunks of pineapple onto each taco with a flick of the wrist. The tacos were delicious, lightly spicy and dry with a sweet crunch of pineapple. We also tried an order of juicy roasted pork tacos with melted cheese.

Tacos al pastor - the great DF institute. This is really all this place does (and they do it well) - so if you are looking for tacos al pastor or some incarnation of "al pastor" then you need to visit. Perfect for a pre or post bar bite.

What do you do after 6hrs flight arriving at 2am in the morning? Go to El Tizoncito in La Condesa for some "tacos al pastor"!

These must be one of the best tacos al pastor I've tasted (along with "El Charco del Las Ranas" in insurgents sur), they are juicy and tasty (I'm already salivating)...

Order your tacos al pastor (with everything) or gringas and try several of the local beers (victoria, estrella, leon, pacifico or montejo). Watch out for the salsas, some of them are very spicy!

Nice place to stop for a snack or meal in Condesa. The al pastor was very good, but not noticeably better than a couple of cheaper and more casual places we tried in Roma. However, El Tizoncito has a nice patio and free chips to go along with a tower of salsas, chopped onion & chile, and spicy bean dip. Prices were in the 11-13 peso range for each taco, and they had other options as well, like huaraches, on pan arabe, and salads.
