“Don't stay on the 12th floor”
Reviewed August 16, 2010

This is good hotel in a very nice area of Mexico City - very safe and clean. A great location for a business traveler. Tourists may not like the location since it is far away from sightseeing. The food was really good, the service was good, and the prices were good. The hotel room was dark in the morning due to there not being enough lights in the room. The bathrooms were great.

If you like sleeping to the sound of music thumping through the floor, then stay on the 12th floor underneath the Sky bar. Otherwise, stay way from the 12th floor! The Sky bar is very nice, but there is not much sound insulation in this building.

This is the 3rd time I stayed at this hotel since I stopped using the Sheraton Suites next door. This hotel is approx. 2 years old and is centrally located in the Santa Fe business district. Overall this is a great hotel for business people. Service is always top notch and the rooms are large and comfortable. In all, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for business travelers. Nonetheless, if you are a tourist, this is not the best area to stay, as there are no tourist attractions and you would be better served by staying in the "Reforma" downtown area.

The best thing about the hotel is the excellent breakfast buffet really. The rooms are quite big, however quite dark due to missing light sources. Windows do not open sadly. Wireless LAN didn't work (Access point went out of service after a few hours after check-in) - but that's pretty common for Hotels in Mexico really. Staff is very friendly, service is good. TV is quite old (CRT instead of a flat-screen), but on the other hand it actually provides working cable TV, which again is not something to be granted in mexican Hotels.

When it comes to the value, things could be better - it's quite expensive, and neither WLAN nor Breakfast are included in standard rates. But then again, price level is high in Santa Fe for most hotels.

What's really sad is that there is advertising for their sky lounge everywhere, but it's still closed for reconstruction (and reading other reviews here that's the case for quite some time already). It would be fair not to advertise this on their website while it's not accessible.

Really nothing to get excited about- the only reason to stay here is if you have business nearby. It is about an hour from any of the attractions in Mexico City.

The rooms don;t have any windows that open (who designs these hotels? this is a common problem in 'modern' hotels) and the wireless internet signal in teh room was too weak to be functional. Had to ask for a cable. On top of that you need to pay for internet, and get a new code everyday (another scam that should end- in a simply family hotel where i just stayed in Mexico City (at 1/3 of the price) the wireless Internet was free and worked a charm)

I stayed at the Camino Real in Santa Fe for two nights, visiting a client in the Santa Fe area. The hotel is a fine business hotel. The lobby is light and airy, the rooms spacious, the bathroom clean and modern, although it only has a shower and not a bath tub. It has a fitness center, restaurant, and little coffee cafe in the lobby. However, I would not recommend the hotel unless you have business in Santa Fe.

For some reason, my computer recharger did not work there, although it did work at the Four Seasons (high class recharger?) They were able to provide another recharger from the business center quite easily.

The biggest downside to the hotel is its location. Santa Fe is not an area where you would go unless you had business there or wanted to see great examples of modern architecture. It is entirely unlike the rest of Mexico City, having been built in the past fifteen years, and filled with the headquarters or Mexican headquarters of many prominent companies. Although I'm sure the streets are quite safe, I wasn't inspired to walk around, given the narrow sidewalks and barren streets in the evenings.

Overall a decent hotel, but I have to submit a negative review because of bed bugs.

This review is based on two recent stays. Got bed bug bites on the second stay.

Cons:
-Bed bugs
-Room lighting inadequate
-Need a new code for wireless internet each day
-Housekeeping doesn't do a very good job of making the bed
-They knock on your door in the morning 15 minutes before your actual wake up call
-Roof-top bar is currently under construction
-Concierge gives horrible walking directions (even in Spanish) to nearby restaurants

Pros:
-Decent gym (according to colleague)
-Excellent, but overpriced breakfast buffet
-Decent business center
-Good location in Santa Fe; close to restaurants, Starbucks, 7-11 (product selection is limited at this location)
-Good shower water pressure
-Easy-to-use alarm clock

Overall, I would have rated this hotel 4 out of 5 if it wasn't for the bed bugs, and it is for this reason alone that I do not recommend this hotel to a friend.

this hotel is very expensive and the service is very poor in comparison with their neighborghs (Sheraton, Fiesta Americana and Fiesta Inn). The Front Desk people and the bell boys dont share all the informations, the taxis are very very expensive and also they charge you an extra fee. Room Services is fast but bad quality and the food is cold in additions the prices of room services are more than expensive.
