We recently visited Mexico City and stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and were very happy about it. The hotel had recently changed hands and the lobby was being renovated during the time we were there. However, we found the service to be excellent and all the staff very friendly and very very helpful (from the front desk staff to the lobby staff to the restaurant staff and the bartenders). Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

We booked our trip when the hotel was still operated by Hilton so upon arrival, they honor the breakfast buffet as well as the Manager's Happy Hour which was very nice of them. I am not sure if the le Meridien is continuing this tradition (but I hope they will as we will return to this fascinating city for many more visits in the future and would love to stay at this hotel everytime).

The hotel is centrally located on the Paseo de la Reforma and all the museums are within 1 hour walking distance (depending on how fast you can walk). The suite we stayed in is fairly big and very well equipped. The shower can be very hot so be careful not to get burned. I do not think the tap knob in the shower works very well :-)

The same with the jacuzzi - it was a bit too hot at 40 degrees C, I think 30 - 35 degrees is probably better. The swimming pool is adequate for a hotel. They are a great way to relax after a busy day of sightseeing.

We were so disappointed to find the hotel under construction at arrival. We also had an issue at check in because my son and his wife needed to stay one night of our 3 night stay with us. We had called ahead to confirm they could sleep in the sofa bed in the living room, but upon check in it was a problem. We paid extra for them to stay with us, but there were no linens in the sofa bed, and when we asked for linens and towels they never came. They put us in a room with two double beds, when we reserved a king. They did not believe us or move us until the next day when I pulled up my email reservation. To their credit, they moved us to the 19th floor. We had the same issue with breakfast as others, first they said it was included and then when we got there they said it was not. The biggest disappointment was how they gauged us on the taxi. My son took a regular taxi to our cousins house for 6 times less than the hotel taxi cost for us. We complained to the hotel that this was ridiculous, how could they charge so much, they just said they could guarantee their taxi's. I would not mind paying more for the hotel taxi, but 6- times the rate is just robbery. We also had an issue ordering wine. We went to the bar at 11pm and they said it was closed but we could order through room service. When we tried to order they said the only wine they had was the most expensive wine on the menu - how could that be? At the beginning of our trip we asked to speak to a manager and never got a call back. I just don't know how this could be a Starwood property, I have always loved their hotels and this was so disappointing.

The pictures make the hotel look very fancy and above average. I found the hotel to be just that, average! The lobby was mess with construction, the view from the hotel windows is obscured by by outside lined glass not allowing a very good view of what Mexico City has to offer. The service upon check in was great and speedy, however it was mentioned more than once that breakfast was included, however first breakfast there and I am fighting with the restaurant manager about my breakfast buffet assuring him they told me my breakfast was included, to his credit he took care of it. I called to double check that night, never received a call back confirming, when asking the next morning I was informed that breakfast is not included. Some major inconsistencies coupled with the noise of construction and the mess make this hotel, at the moment, not a very ideal place to meet and have business meetings.

Room Tip: Verify, double check that what you are told is included actually is. This will probably be a nicer place once construction is done...but the constant buzzing of saws and dust and workers everywhere really brings this place down. should have finished construction first, then opened.

The hotel is currently under some renovation in the main entrance area, so our first impression was a bit discouraging. Once in the lobby area we were welcomed with water bottles and with a fast check-in process. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable with a lot of space. They at equipped with some amenities I wasn't expecting such as a small microwave oven, a small sink and a coffee maker. I also liked the two TV sets although the one in the bedroom is a little too small for the viewing distance from the bed, a 40" screen would be better. The pool is too small to enjoy it, but the Jacuzzi is ok. Overall we have a positive stay and would gladly recommend it.
