If you are visiting Mexico city, and decide to see Bellas Artes Palace, just cross the street and you'll find an amazing building that transport you to Italy in the middle ages...take all the pictures you want, but please, make a note, and try to go inside to see the lovely stairs!!!

I have never been in a post office like this. The building is essentially unchanged from 100 years ago. The architecture and charm of the place are impressive, on a par with great turn of the 20th century public buildings in Europe. Be sure to walk all the way into the building to see the central stairs and the stained glass, but you won't need to spend more than 5 minutes for the visit.

Really well kept building. The guard by the lift has a lot of knowledge about it and will gladly tell you a little if you ask him.

This building is next to Bellas Artes, and it's beautiful Made with marble and concrete structures and designs, it's another architectural jewel.

Despite being a downtown post office we were surprised that it was not busy at all. It is across the street from the Bellas Artes concert hall and the two were designed by the same Italian architect. In addition, the beautiful Casa de Azulejos is almost right around the corner. Do see all three when you are in the Alameda area. To really appreciate the beauty of the post office you must go inside. The stairways, banisters, and every other part of this art deco building are incredible. Plus it is a working post office so it is free to enter and admire the building. Do walk inside and then walk around a bit and go up the stairs for a full view. It's terrific even if you only spend a few minutes inside.
