“"OK" Breakfasts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

Like the previous reviews, I must agree, the ambiance is pretty nice. Is elegant, cozy without being ostentatious. The service is pretty good, but nothing 5 star. The food is ok, I mean, for the price you are paying is very good. Even though it's located in a good avenue, and seems like a luxurious restaurant, is really not. Prices are just fine. But I wouldn't recommend it for 1st timers in the city.

“Great location, service and ambience.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

I've been twice. The first, the service was a bit slow (had to ask the waiter to serve the wine.. he just left it there) but the second time was much better. However, the food was consistent. My stomach was off the next day each time. I'll be back for drinks or perhaps to try the breakfast but not my first choice.

“Not bad, nice new addition to Palmas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

Nice new addition to Palmas scene. We went there last Sunday. Oddly, it was pretty much an elderly crowd, with some families. Good food, good service. Nothing at all wrong with the place. We were glad we tried it.

With that said, we were not awestruck. It is like Bistro Moustaches which opened on Reforma, not far from L'Avenue - good, nice to know it is there.

However, when we want French, we will stick with Au Pied de Cochon - now at two locations (Santa Fe and Polanco) in the Presidente Intercontinental Hotels and as a second option for French, go to Bistro Lipp. Those places are simply more wow and better.

If we want a great dining experience and something extra special, it will be Bakea, also nearby.

The one negative of L'Avenue is when we parked, we did not get our ticket from the valet parker, who gave it to the security person, who gave it to the hostest. We were 1 of 3 tables so I have no clue what it was not given to us. When we left it was a bit of a show with us checking all pockets and every corner of the wallet and then one of the valet boys remembered that the Volvo ticket was given to the security guard, who said he gave it to the hostess and she proudly gave it to the guard again so he could give to us and we could go home. Gee- thanks.
