“Best corn bread in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Just located in one of the most beautiful areas south of Mexico City, you get to eat quite of the best food in the City. The Mexican style and Mexican specialties, makes this restaurant one that you cannot miss if you are in San Angel. Try all the sweet bread they bake right there.

“Beautiful restaurant. San Angel location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

The restaurant is set on an old beautiful house with a patio in the center, high celings and tall windows. There are several areas to be seated, the terrace, the patio, the second floor. I thought the second floor by the window was quite nice. Service is good and food good, not superb but good and there is a wide variety, so you can have a great mixiote, totopos con guacamole, pasta, arrachera, etc...
The restaurant is set on San Jacinto Plaza, just by the Bazar Sabado, which is a very active place on saturdays. The neighbourhood is beautiful, cobblestone streets and colonial style houses. We spent 400 pesos per person.

“extremely pleasant for desayuno”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

One of the nice discoveries of a business trip to Mexico City is the desayuno tradition - a massive breakfast! It generally consists of both sweet and savoury dishes, and at Saks the deal includes almost a pint of fresh juice of your choice (jugo Bali is strongly recommended), a pastry (cant' let a concha go), bottomless coffee/chocolate/tea, a fruit salad (papaya, mango) with granola, yogurt and honey, and a choice of savoury dish.

You can enjoy the lot sitting in the shad of the beautiful trees in the terrace overlooking Plaza San Jacinto, or in an inside room. Seems a favourite with the well to do living in this wealthy borough.

“"Mixiote" anyone?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

Mixiote is a central mexican traditional plate, made out of lamb meat and adobo, Saks puts a spin to it. Be sure to ask for tortillas (black corn, so tortillas are black, very cool). Parking is a bit of a hassle so take a cab or share a ride so you have to park just 1 car. Small park has entertainment, artists with paintings on display and a wide array of street vendors so is a good place to by souvenirs. Cheers.

“Excellent brunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Very nice produce and well prepared. The breakfast/brunch deal (the 'paquete') includes a main dish (good portion), a plate of fruit, large glass of jugo (juice, one quite original), tea or coffee, pastries (we are addicted to their conchas, the Mexican sweet bread) and bread.
All this for what you'd pay for the main dish out of brunch hours, namely just over 200 pesos or so. The setting is lovely, in a grand room or in the terrace overlooking the trees of Plaza San Jacinto, the heart of the San Angel area where in weekends there is an art and craft market (craft better than art).
Service is polite, cheerful and professional.
