Simply the best option, cheap well located. Know it since a long time. You get almost the same for the over priced Hotels in Alvaro Obregon Street in La Roma. The interior design is cheap and not good taste but it doesn't matter, the place accomplish its objective, good located nice price and big rooms.

Room Tip: Choose the room at the end of the hall, 4th 5th floor more quiet.

We really enjoyed the location of this hotel - lots of restaurants we had wanted to try out in the area, and easy access to transit. The advertised free wi-fi was very challenging to access however, and the rooms gave us a bit of a challenge - we had asked for (and reserved) rooms adjacent to each other, but this was apparently not possible.

Having said that, the price was great, the room was clean, and while it has probably a significant amount of time since carpet was shampooed, overall the dollar value was pretty darn good, and I think we would give it another try.

I learned about the Hotel Embassy from a tip on the Lonely Planet Thorntree. We hardly expected such a good deal for the Mexican peso equivalent of $28 USD a night. But there it is. The rooms are ample, and we have always had a king sized bed in the rooms in which we've stayed (I think about 5 or 6 stays now.) The bathrooms are simple but roomy and clean. The tiled shower room part is separate and the hot water abundant and with good pressure.

There are a few small shortcomings with the rooms in which we stayed. On our first stay, a couple of years ago, we had a room at the back overlooking the parking area. The high wall at the back reflected heat and noise. On subsequent trips, in cooler weather, neither heat or noise was a problem.

The bath amenities are generic, ie, plain label, but work fine.

The other drawbacks were that the wifi worked only in the lobby and lounge area. But on our last two stays, in June and July 2013, we had good wifi reception in rooms on both the first and fourth floor. There are neither fans nor AC, but opening the sliding window does help.

A very minor quibble is that the dresser has only one working drawer! All the others are dummies! Just a quirk, IMO.

Note also that the keys are old fashioned keys, not cards.

Besides the low rates, another plus is the location is very convenient to restaurants, services and transportation.

Room Tip: The jacuzzi suite, while inexpensive, is not worthwhile. The skylight over the jacuzzi admits light...

After a one night stand in a terrible and expensive hostel, we discovered that in mexico city it worths more to stay in a motel then in an hotel. For me, Hotel Embassy looks like a motel, with a lot of mirrors all over the room. Besides this kitsch and old fashioned decoration, it is a really excelent hotel. And you can see a lot of mexican families stayng there.
The staff is very kind, the rooms are clean, the bed is awsome and the shower is just perfect: strong and hot.The subway is just in the corner and you can find an interesting nightlife in less than a 10 minutes walk.
I've had already stayed 2 times in this hotel and I recomend it.
And an advice: if you are looking for a cheap place to stay, runaway from the hostels. They are full of foreigners and they are really overpriced.

Our first night was on the 5th floor and there was a machinery hum cycling 5 min. on and 10 min. off.It was quite annoying. The next morning we checked out the other floors and found no sound on the 3rd floor. We changed rooms to the 3rd and had 3 more days there and it was good. The rooms are really comfy for the price and the beds are large and just the right firmness for us.
The shower was roomy and lots of hot water. We made friends with the front desk and had good service.
The location is a few minutes walk to Insurgentes Metro and maybe 10 minute walk to Paseo de la Reforma.
We had excellent internet connections in both rooms.

The only downside was the noise on the 5th floor the rest was good.

Room Tip: We found the 3rd floor to be quieter.

This hotel is quite nicely located in Roma district. It has all of the things that are necessary - a good bed and a hot shower.

The wifi is only available in the lobby area and is free, but is quite annoying that you have to go all the way down to the lobby to access it. However, it is a strong signal.

The rooms are seedy (room length mirrors and purple colour scheme), but functional. The bed is good and you get a good night's sleep. The shower is massive and powerful and hot - couldn't ask for more.

Breakfast is not included, but there are options nearby. There is a small car park at the hotel.
