“Good but charges for everything”

I had to spend the night at Mexico City´s Airport to catch a flight the next morning. The location is very convenient if you need to catch a flight since is right across the terminal. You just need to cross the tunnel (no need for a cab). It's a tall building with small rooms but they are trendy and very comfortable. The downside is the extra fees: internet (bussines center or wifi), no drinking water in the room and the mini bar is very expensive. Other than that it is a good choice for travellers.

Business meetings in Mexico City – used colleague’s hotel room in Camino Real to freshen up and change for the meeting after a long flight in. The first impression of the hotel is that it’s a remnant from the 60’s: an old, imposing, ugly cement structure, with worn out carpets, old-fashioned atrium, where you literally bake in the sun, beaming through the high glass roof. Yes, this was the style way-back-when – time to step into the 21st century.

The halls are dark, dingy, I had to maneuver through the mouse maze until I found the hotel room, all the way at the end of the twisting and turning narrow hall. The room itself was clean, with modern bathroom upgrades; but few people would get that far after the poor first impression. Honestly, I was glad I was only using it for 30 min, and not staying overnight.

My colleagues and I had lunch at the Bice Bistro – and I would return for another meal. We were seated promptly, the waiter was very attentive. Our meal selections were all delicious: I absolutely loved my sea bass ceviche – perfectly marinated large chunks of fish, in “home-made” green salsa, which was very flavorful, with just enough spice punch. The tortilla chips on the side should have been served whole, as opposed to cracked into small pieces. My colleagues’ comments on fried calamari and tempura-style veggies were also positive, as well as another selection of a small fillet steak, artfully presented on a plate with mashed potatoes, veggies and sauce. Can’t comment on the price [I did not pay the bill], but the bistro’s décor, good service and delicious food was a pleasant lunch experience during the hectic business day.

Room Tip: comments on restaurant only

Wow! Is the word to discribe this airport hotel.
Location is super convenient for a late arrival/early departure flight.
The room is quiet, luxuriously appointed, with superbly confortable bedding, marble bathroom, furniture and lighting. Spotlessly clean room, friendly, efficient staff and nice on site restaurants albeit a bit expensive. This is a great hotel to catch your breath after a tiring day flying.
I cant wait to stay here again!!!

If you miss a flight, have a long layover for a connection or your flight gets cancelled, this is a convenient hotel. Its not close to much of anything that is interesting or important within the city, and the surrounding areas are not of high quality. Other than the restaurants in the hotel itself or the airport, there are not many retail goods and services nearby, so be prepared to entertain yourself. This used to be at one time, the Fiesta Americana, and then the Marriott...same hotel, different management. The hotel is a short and quick walk over a sky bridge from Terminal One (the old terminal). If you are flying in or out with AeroMexico, its much easier and less complicated to stay at the new NH in Terminal Two. Rooms here are on the small side. Room service is relatively good. Rooms are quieter than you might expect, given the proximity to the runways. Staff is helpful. The biggest issue here was the extreme slowness of the Internet (lento como una tortuga)...which by the way is not free. Its interesting how hotels that offer free Internet service tend to have really fast connections and hotels that charge for a connection seem to have really old and slow connections. Trying to send or download e-mails with attachments was a very slow process, accessing the Internet also was not a rapid experience. Maybe the CR will read this review and do something about it, since the chain prides itself on serving business customers.

Room Tip: Get in the tower farthest away from Terminal 1

I have been coming to Mexico for sometime but this was my worst stay.

Poor service. People don't understand English and that's too bad for a 5 star rated hotel.
Smelly rooms. Rooms smell of paint and polish.
The concierge service is so poor that they keep you on hold for long.

Room Tip: Worst hotel stay

I find it hard to believe there are so many good reviews for this hotel. The beds are very uncomfortable, some kind of foam mattress and they are small. The rooms are like sweat boxes. I have to stay here from time to time because of work. Maybe 8 times a year. I always dread staying here because I can't get any rest.

This hotel was selected on the basis of being close to the airport (right next to terminal 1), and my room (631) had excellent views of the airport and the arriving and departing airplanes right out the window. Really good if you like that sort of thing - like I do !
I stayed one night before flying out the next morning (had a free shuttle to terminal 2). The room was very nice and well appointed, but the car parking charges are excessive (a lot higher than the website states). The site states 20 MXD/day (approx £2.30), but I left my rental car there for approx 4 hours before I returned it and they charged me 180 MXD (about £10) - try arguing about that in Spanish !
The charge for internet access at such a large and popular hotel (£14/day approx) was a complete rip-off. I suggest you check alternatives if you plan an extended stay and your company isn't paying the bill.
There is a shop in the lobby for snacks, drinks and magazines etc. I didn't try the restaurant, cafe or bar, but I did have a club sandwich and a beer from room service which was very nice and reasonably priced.
With the above reservations I would still recommend it overall.
