We added a few extra days while attending a conference at this hotel. Very nice hotel, kind of confusing upon entering as they have two entrances, but you are soon pointed towards the front desk. Our room on the 15th floor faced the back of the hotel. Two double beds - we asked for king or queen , but none available. 3 English channels on the TV , nightly turn down service which included a fresh bag of ice cubes. Our room was one of the newly renovated ones.
They provide 2 small bottles of water for free and found out you can ask for more instead of paying for the larger one they provide in the in-suite bar. We purchased two bottles of wine from the in-suite bar - not bad price when converted to Canadian dollars. All restaurants in hotel were great - no need to worry about getting ill. Pool was large & heated, 88F. Outdoor hot tub was great. They are adding a new area for the spa and gym as old one is terrible and out of the way.
When staying downtown, bring Pesos as they don't like US dollars. We found a bank near hotel to exchange. Safe areas about 1-2 blocks around the hotel, but outside this it gets a little scary. Used taxis provided by hotel only - they ensure your safety! You can arrange day trips from hotel too - great way to see city and local area.

Room Tip: ask for one with balcony or overlooking the pool

We went to Mexico City for a "culinary getaway," and were not disappointed. We chose the JW Marriott based on the reputation of the hotel, and the area, Polanco, which is a very nice, upscale and safe residential neighborhood. While we were staying at the Marriott, they were in the process of renovating. Literally, in a one day period of time, they had put up a construction wall in the lobby, which was a bit annoying due to the noise and the fact that some of the elevators could not stop in the lobby, but it's nice that they are renovating. Our room was a fairly standard business room, on a high floor as requested. However, due to the configuration of the hotel, it seems like some of the rooms stare into other rooms. I agree with some of the other reviewers, that compared to other JW Marriott Hotels, the service isn't quite up to par, and that the housekeeping was a bit spotty--we also didn't have shampoo in our room one day. However, the concierge was great. He helped us to confirm our dinner reservations, and called to our room to let us know it had been taken care of. I was pretty annoyed that in a business hotel that there wash't free internet in the rooms, and that the internet which was in the lobby was pretty spotty. Given that you can go to a coffee shop and get free internet, I do consider it a right these days. We used the pool and spa area, which is nice and refreshing, even though it was a bit chilly at night, the pool was nicely heated. A warning that cabs hired from the hotel are very pricey compared to regular Mexico City cabs. You're guaranteed safety, but you'll be paying 4x the regular radio taxi price. Overall, the location is great, but it is right next to several other high-end hotels--the W is right next door, as is the Intercontinental. We had a drink at the W one night, and it was a bit more our speed--hip (and the cocktails are delicious). The JW was pretty good--a good value for JW Marriott properties, but we're likely to try the W next time we go to Mexico City.

The hotel is not worth the money, although most amenities exist, they are all dated and tired... for instance, all the lockers in the gym don't work; bathroom has broken shower pipes and missing soap and shampoo.

Basic services like tea or coffee maker is not present in the rooms.
Also, other JW Marriotts give you free internet with a Silver membership... this place does not.. it costs another $25 a day!

The room service menu doesn't match with what the restaurant has; so ordering food is a trial!

There is also some renovation going on in the hotel at this time, which the hotel doesn't inform about.

Overall, I would recommend to give this hotel a miss at this time; and choose either the W or Intercontinental on either side of the Marriott until they clean up their act.

We stayed at the JW for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed being there. The location is perfect! Chapultepec park with all its attractions is within walking distance. It is surrounded by 1st class restaurants, Cafe Lipp is a must and wonderful way to start your day. We will be back!

Room Tip: All are well located, great views!

I would say that is one of the best in town, situated in the area of Polanco.
Very cozy lobby and good restaurants. Great view and super facilities. My only comment is that it is pricey compared to other hotels right next to it.

Beautiful hotel, appropriately good service, very well located in the hip Polanco area - close to restaurants, bars, boutiques and business. A favorite in Mexico City. I think all the rooms are good. Nice restaurants too.
