Very worth while seeing this museum and personal collection of Mr. Slim. The building it's self is an architecturally worth seeing let alone the items it holds inside.

The museum is free and in a great area of the city called Palanco. Although this is in the newer district of Palanco, I encourage you to go and lunch at one of the many amazing restaurant's and cafe's in Palancos small streets.

Review after review will rave about the charms of this museum and rightfully so. Let me take the time to tell you the easiest way to get there if you're not splurging for a taxi. Take the metro to the Polanco station. Upon exiting the station you will find yourself on Ave. Horacio. Go west about 20 blocks. It may seem like a lot, but the walk is very pleasant along the pedestrian promenade through Parque América. Turn left onto Ave. Cuernavaca. Go straight on, cross Ave. Ejercito National and you'll bump right into the museum. In total, a 25 minute walk from the metro station. The Soumaya is an amazing structure both inside and out. Fans of NYC's Guggenheim will see certain resemblances once inside. The museum has a respectable Impressionist collection of lesser known artists. I'm not sure there is a Rodin collection other than in Paris that equals that put together by Carlos Slim. By far, my favorite floor (the 4th) presents Mexican art. Wonderful pre-Columbian art from primarily Western Mexico (Jalisco and Nayarit) might only be outdone by what Diego Rivera collected as a individual. The highlight for me were the Sequeiros paintings. The force of his visions are clearly evident in the works displayed here. If you have visited the University of Mexico and seen his 3-D mural, you will appreciate even more the study for that mural found here. Take the time then to stroll around Polanco before catching the metro back to where you started.

The building is impressive, the sheer amount of great art works collected suggests multiple visits.
The entry is free, which for this kind of collection is of GREAT value and makes this museum a must-see. What I didn't like was the neutrality of the white walls and the claustrophobic feeling of piling up of masterpieces. They need a much better aesthetic plan for the actual display, including lights. There is a guarded taxi stand outside of the museum, which really helps.

This is one of the most interesting buildings i have ever seen. From inside and out its incredible. Unfortunately the museum bored me a little, the paintings on the 4thfloor i think were great but the rest of the museum i didnt like so much. But so what! the entrance is free and i was more than happy looking at the building and walking around inside.

A Must visit when in MEX. The Building is very cool, the spiral Walk along the six floors reminds on the NY Guggenheim. Best is the top floor with skulptures from Dali and Rodin!
