This castle was built while the French-Aiustrian occupation. It is the only castle in América as long as I know. Beautiful decorated and with a view of the city that is breath taking. The empress Carlota use to check the whole way from the National Palace to the Castle whten Emeperor Maximiliano was in the way. Beautiful see of the Reforma Avenue, which was inspired in the Champs Elysees in Paris.
Families enjoy the short stroll up the hill to the castle, making the walk festive and cheerful for all visitors. It's possible to study exhibits in the museum of the castle to try and understand the French occupation of Mexico in the mid-1800's, as all is well-explained in English. But it is also fun to just walk around and have a view of the city, too. A really good outing while staying in District Federal. Often small concerts are presented in a covered patio. Get a schedule if you'd enjoy special events.
the castle is very nice located in the Chapultepec park, its a nice stroll up the mountain if you wish to walk once on the top the view is quite nice and the castle itself is beautiful. lots of history in those walls.
This castle is good for a stroll as many of the other reviewers mention ... it is is beautiful and does have some nice views ... also it is charged with historical significance ... from Maximiliano to the U.S. Mexican War to Porfirio Díaz ...
I just didn't like the History museum or layout all that much when I went.
