We had a 10 hour layover in Mexico City - What to do? We had the unique pleasure of taking a day tour with Hector Barraza of Mexico City Elite Tours: http://www.mexicocityelitetours.com/index.html. He met us at the airport ( where we stored our luggage). We did a walking tour of the wonderful Centro Histórico district - Hector provided us such an amazing experience - filled with architectural and historical knowledge of all the places visited. We had a fabulous lunch, had a late afternoon coffee, and he took us to an amazing hotel to grab a cab back to the airport. It was a full day, and a fabulous end to our Costa Rican vacation. I can't express how great a day it really was, and what a fabulous guide Hector was. I can't recommend him enough.

From the first email reply I received from Hector I knew our time in Mexico City would be great. We speak no Spanish but we wanted to get an introduction to the city and its culture especially a trip to the Basilica of our Lady of Guadelupe. Hector did a great walking tour of downtown with us seeing and explaining in great detail and with a lot of insights and anecdotes all of the sites reachable during the day. The following day we went to the basilica and to the pyramids and enjoyed the time spent. He made our trip worthwhile. I would recommend him to anyone.

My family and I were extremely pleased with the multiple tours we took with Hector. A total of 13 of us including children traveled and took the tours. Hector arrived on a timely manner and the buses we rode in were comfortable and clean. Hector's knowledge base for Mexico City and its history is and was impressive! Hector is very respectful and polite. We were all very impressed with the tours. I highly recommend Mexico City Elite Tours.

Hector Barraza provides a customised, informed, authentic and engaging experience as a guide.  From our first enquiry he gave advice on how we could best see Mexico City in the very short two days we had available.  His passion for Mexico culture and heritage was obvious as we toured the sights and when teamed with his understanding of the role of Europe in defining modern Mexico made for an enthralling visit.  We found his personable approach, knowledge and very reasonable prices made for a terrific few days and we will definitely reconnect with Hector to guide us when we return.

We contacted Hector after reading about him here while planning our one-week trip to Mexico City. Hector arranged two 1/2 day tours for us, including one custom tour focused on modern architecture (Luis Barragan, Giraldi House), in addition to our amazing and comprehensive tour of the Centro Historico. Hector was amazing! He has an encyclopedic knowledge of the history of his native city, and his love for his city and its history is infectious. Hector met us both days at our B & B and immediately made us feel welcome and excited about the sights we were to see. It was very easy to customize our tours with him through email exchange prior to our arrival. He provided great advice about timing our tours to ensure we got to see all the places we wanted, and gave us excellent recommendations for lunch. The best part our our time with Hector was the opportunity to chat with someone as smart, interesting and interested as he was about a wide range of topics. We recommend Hector enthusiastically for anyone heading to Mexico City -- what an amazing place!
