Its a beautiful grand old church with an interesting history. Unfortunately the ground under it is unstable and i'm sure it will require repairs in the future, but for now there were no big construction projects going on.

This is one of the most beautiful churches anywhere. In addition to its rich colonial era history it is on top of the main temples of the Aztec city. You can see the ruins through special windows in the sidewalk and the Templo Mayor is beside it.

Pretty building, lots of old stuff on the inside. It's not my religion, but I can appreciate the history and architecture. Take your guide book to learn more about the features. Learn from our mistake and do not get swindled. We were approached by an older man with black and white hair and glasses, wearing a name badge, offering to take us on a 10 minute tour in English. We should have asked "how much" but instead agreed to know a bit more about the building. Ten minutes turned into 20 and my toddler was unhappy, so I couldn't hear much of what was being said. When the tour ended, the nice man turned into a mean man and demanded 50 pesos each for the tour. He turned even meaner when my husband pointed out that our toddler wasn't even listening, so he shouldn't count. Then he had the nerve to suggest that we tip him. So watch out for people trying to take advantage of you in a house of worship - not cool, dude.

Don't miss the Aztec ruins out in the front. Pretty amazing.

It’s a big and beautiful cathedral which is located at the historic center of Mexico (Zocalo). It was very big and beautiful. Built in renaissance architecture with a blend of Spanish tradition. The market outside the cathedral was good and it’s very nice to visit in the morning. It was painful to know that the cathedral was built after demolishing a Mayan temple and used the same brick to build the cathedral.
