We got back yesterday after a long weekend in Mexico City. The hotel was fantastic and I recommend it completely.

Just to give some context, I am not necessarily a fan of the big hotel, 5 star or not, but the Hilton Reforma pulls it off. You enter through a gorgeous lobby. The check in was fast and polite.

We used one of the best deals out there and for a small upgrade charge ~$145 for 3 nights - we stayed in a drop dead gorgeous open suite on the 25th Floor with sweeping views of the city and the mountains beyond. The room was simply and elegantly decorated with a bathroom the size of a NYC apartment. The King Bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and the blackout curtains really worked.

The upgrade included access to the gym and the sauna/hot tub and pool. It's a well designed, full gym and on the men's side, the steam facilities and the showers were excellent.

The next best part about the upgrade as the access to the Executive Lounge open from 6 AM to 10 PM. The decor and the view are stunning. In the morning, they offer a complete breakfast, during the day it's open for coffees and soft drinks and their Happy Hour at 6 PM offers wine and beer, plus an hor d'ouvres spread that compares with the best restaurants.

The staff at the lounge are top notch professionals who keep things moving while never appearing too busy to help or chat. I found their recommendations excellent and in particular, Aaron, went out of his way to describe his city to us and help us get oriented.

The Hilton Reforma manages to combine the best of the big hotels with the sense of being in a boutique. And I need to mention its perfect location. Alameda Park and Bella Artes are secure and lively. On Sunday around 7 PM, we took a walk in the park and wound up staying until 9:30, watching the simulcast (free) of the Ballet Folklorico, listening to the free folk concerts, walking that market and then watching the dancers and partiers near the food stands. You are in the Historic Center with all its charm and history. Just walk out the door.

It's one of the best.

Room tip: Check the upgrade packages at the desk.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 4 days and it was great. We had a huge suite with free breakfast and happy hours with snacks and beer. The location was safe and very convenient to many attractions. In front of hotel was a nice park with street vendors at night. Everything is so much cheaper in Mexico City especially with good exchange rate. The weather was very nice but it tends to rain in the evening hours. Would definitely come back here in the near future.

We stayed here for 3 nights - the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The hotel is great, the room has all the mod cons you would expect and was well kept and very clean. Would recommend to any one visiting the city. Also I would really recommend the city itself, felt safe throughout and loved the chaos and the sights and food, especially the street food!
