The hotel is beautiful with modern art and high ceilings. Allen and Diego are very friendly hosts. While the neighborhood is safe and lovely, it is not close to most of the tourist destinations, which can be good and bad. It's good because it's quiet (there are double paned windows), but bad because you are a little isolated from the other more interesting parts of the city. If you are comfortable getting a taxi from wherever you are in the city or taking the metro, then I would recommend this hotel for you. There is a metro stop a few blocks away and your hosts will call you a taxi to go anywhere in the city, but if you want to stay close to tourist destinations I would consider someplace else. The rooms are quiet and the beds are comfortable, but there is an echo from the courtyard below. FYI, You can only use their biodegradable soap in the shower and the wireless signal is not very strong. Overall, if you want a friendly place while you are away from home, then this would be the place for you.

It is one thing to have style - and this place has buckets of it (so much so that it eats a little into the comfort factor in a few little ways ) - but its a real bonus to have genuine, enthusiastic and generous hosts.

This is a GREAT place to stay.

I stayed here for three nights and was really pleased to have found this place. It's a beautifully renovated townhouse (high white walls, polished wooden floors, quality modern furniture) with friendly, helpful multilingual owners. The breakfasts are nice and the location is pretty good- about 5 minutes from San Cosme metro station, which is only a couple of stops from the centre. Some (not all) of the rooms have a shared bathroom- if you don't mind sharing, these are particularly good value. First rate.

El Patio 77 www.elpatio77.com , in Mexico City was by far the BEST hotel experience I have ever had. The renovated villa is absolutely charming, with spacious beautifully design rooms, an atmospheric courtyard and perfection around every corner. The owners are lovely, personable and extremely knowledgeable about the city, and how each guest can best experience it. I highly recommend it!

Excellent hosts, homey feel. The neighborhood is authentic and non-touristy, and we liked that, but its some distance to most of the places you will be going. Metro worked well, we took taxis fine. Enjoy!
