“Great location, clean, helpful”

We stayed for one night at the end of our trip. This hotel is very close to the zocalo and centro historico -- if you want to be in the thick of things, then this place is a great option. Our room was definitely smaller than most U.S. hotels, but it was clean and there was plenty of hot water. The staff was helpful in arranging a wake-up call and taxi for our early morning flight. However, the taxi service was actually a private driver who works with the hotel. He drove a regular car not painted or licensed as a taxi. We were nervous and sort of awkwardly inquired who this guy was, but the ride ended up fine, and the driver took us directly to the airport and charged a flat fee ($140 pesos). We just wish that the hotel staff would have explained the private car situation to us so that we didn't feel so uncomfortable getting into an unmarked car.

This hotel is very clean and rooms look new - no old bathrooms here! It is located 2 blocks from the Zocalo in the Centro Historic District. The best location. Some staff speak english. They also offer a 10% discount at the atttached restaurant. The fresh buns are really good. I had a filet of fish mero which was a big portion and was very good. The service at the restaurant is not that great, but you cant have everything. Flat screen t.v with English channels hard to find.
Getting WIFi was a little troublesome and the walls are paper thin-you can hear everything in the hallways and even in the rooms that are close. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: My requests for a specific room were unheaded

Good, clean and safe hotel located near the Zocalo however be prepared if you don't speak fluent Spanish. The front desk staff are rude and unhelpful. We speak basic Spanish but this was nowhere near good enough and we were basically ignored. A smile is universal but you won't get that from the front desk at anytime during your stay. The housekeepers on the other hand are lovely!

If I was to recommend any friends to stay in Mexico City I would tell them to check out a hostel instead. This area had no international tourists, if you are keen to meet and mingle with other travelers don't bother with this hotel.

Fully renovated room & bathroom, very clean, non smoking and quiet in such a great location: 1 block from Zocalo. Safe in the room, 2 bottles of water daily, big flat screen tv... room small but perfect for myself. It has everything i need without clutter. Also service was great as well as reception arranged safe taxi to airport. I felt very safe and comfortable. I will be visit again when I return to DF.

Room Tip: I asked for non smoking and quiet room and got it.

I have been to this hotel in November and December 2012, January and February 2013. I always go there when in Mexico City. I would not go anywhere else. The rooms are remodeled, excellent, super clean, very neat, wifi, new TVs and bathrooms. Safety deposit box in the room. Good restaurant Monday through Saturday. Great staff and service. It is only two blocks away from the Zócalo and the metro. I live and travel often in Mexico and in my experience this hotel is the best for the money. Le meilleur rapport qualité-prix au coeur de la ville de Mexico, vraiment excellent. El mejor hotel y mejor precio de la ciudad de Mexico a dos cuadras del Zócalo, todo excellente!

Room Tip: TODO EXCELLENTE! EVERYTHING GREAT! VRAIMENT SUPER! I stayed in three different rooms and all were gr...

I've stayed there twice in October 2012, now gonna stay there again this Feb.
The main reasons are cleanliness and location.
The room I had was a bit small but with a big comfy bed, clean bed linen, big new white towels. Compliment water (2 bottles). The phone (I never used bcoz I have mexican cell and its cheap). I love the big mirror that was on the wall but the room window was at the inner side of the hotel and bcoz of that room was a bit dark. But they have great mirror at the elevator!
The shower was clean and had all I need, but was small also. And I could find only one electric socket - it was in a bathroom! Remote (tv and light) was built in a wall above the bed (funny but ok).
They have next door restaurant "Maple" - don't forget to ask 10% discount coupons for the meal at this restaurant - but actually I wasn't impressed with the food they served and it was pricey. Better go away (5 mins by walk) from the hotel, you can find "Fisher's" (ask from the reception or locals at the street) - its cheap and awesome! Tacos with the sea-food cocktail is sooooo yummy!
The Zocalo is 2 mins by walk from the hotel, Francisco I.Madera calle is 5-7 mins by walk. 10-15 mins by walk - to the Palacio de Bellas Artes.
Also near to the hotel there is a subway station.
The taxi from the Benito Juares intl. airport cost around 130-190 pesos. Make few steps from the arrival gate - and the price will go down from 190 to 130. Ask from the reception about safe taxi to the airport, the cost about 130-150 pesos.
Well, good place to stay if you are on a budget. I've stayed at other place my first visit to D.F. and believe me - hotel Roble is cheaper and cleaner with the best location!

Sorry have no pics of the hotel but it looks as all the hotels with nothing special allover the world.

It is a clean, simple hotel with a very good price/quality. The rooms are good and the location is perfect (1 block from the Zocalo and the metro). We stayed here our nights in Mexico and think the hotel is perfect for this, certainly. A great plus are also the free internet pc's and the safe luggage storage. An authorized cab from the airport to the hotel was about 200 pesos.
