“Cheap price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2012

Just choose this hotel for: good location , good price, safe, also not far from zocalo about 20 min. walk, but you get what you pay, wi fi internet never works in this place but you can go to any star bucks coffee shop with your laptop, also taxi service twice expensive as normal, this hotel in the list of recommended hotels for Guru Tour travellers

Room Tip: some floors is renovated ask for upgrade

Although most of the staff was friendly, the hotel itself suffers from MANY disadvantages. The place itself is decrepit. The Internet connection barely works - if it works at all. The entire structure is in decay - there wasn't a single floor in the building that wasn't inclined. The carpets were dusty. The menu choices for the "included" breakfast were narrow. The windows don't close fully. The front desk staff is wonderful until you have a problem - then they go into a condescending tone that doesn't waver, even when their mistakes are so obvious even they have to admit them. I know Mexico City originally was a swamp, but they could have done a lot better in maintaining that building.

Be careful when checking out - they will try to sneak charges into the bill like "lost keys" which you returned; use your cameraphone and take a picture of the person receiving them from you, as they might say you "lost" the key and charge you for it.

The electrical outlets are a bit "wobbly", be careful plugging things into them. The air conditioner is noisy - but it helps mask the noise from car horns, police sirens and road work being done right outside the building.

The location is good - a lot of things nearby, and a metro station; still, you should stay away from this place if you can.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that doesn't face the street side. There's a lot of road work, car horns a...

Good location, in the corner is a Metro station which takes you to most atractions. The staff in the hotel was terrible, unfriendly with the exception of the housekeeper. They offer free internet wifi but it never works.

We had stayed for two days at Hotel Fontan in the last week of March on our planned tour to Mexico. We would recommend this hotel to everyone, mainly to the travelers who need to balance an extent of luxury with affordability. Our room offered a cozy accommodation for both of us. Our room was very clean and its bathroom too was equally clean. Hotel staffs were average with their hospitality however we did not find anything to complain of.

Good afternoon:

Thank you for recommending our hotel, the rooms are newly remodeled and air-conditioning, iron, hairdryer and safe. Your comment is very important for us since we can detect our mistakes and improve.
I look forward to visiting again in this hotel.

Best regards.

I traveled to Mexico City for the U2 Concert on May 2011, we chose this hotel because there's a Metro Station just across the street and we could get to the Estadio Azteca and a lot of other interesting places really easily.
We loved the location, cause we could walk to Bellas Artes (3 blocks) the Zócalo (about 9 blocks away) and a lot of very interesting downtown spots. We were also impressed because the price also includes breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on floors 1-6

Good location, a lot of noise, somewhat decrepit. As usual in Mexico, everything moves on tips most noticeable in the "included" buffet, and I had the need to get very early in the morning and I was charged half a day extra for the convinience.. Never in the US.
