The murals were great and the outside of the building is marvelous. It was a quick visit as none of the exhibition rooms were open but I would definitely go back and would also want to see the Ballet Folklorico.

The building is impressive and truly beautiful, with its classical exterior with Art Nouveau touches and Art Deco interior design. All this can be seen for free from outside and the entrance lobby. To see further it's necessary to pay for entrance. The cost for 2 tickets and 1 photography permit (the only place we've found so far in Mexico where this must be paid additionally to the entrance ticket) was the same or more as the entrance for 2 to the Templo Mayor or Museo de la Antropologia. Both of these repay hours of visit (or even days for the Museo de la Antropologia) whereas the few murals here are worth 15-20 minutes, so for what it is, this is an over-priced experience. There is one good and very famous Diego Rivera (of course his full sequence of Mexican history on the staircase at the Palacio Nacional can be seen for free) and a few other interesting murals/paintings - but only pay to go further than the entrance lobby if you're really interested in these as you can't see inside the theatre.
