Definitely recommended. Mexico's answer to the British National Museum. Antiquities from multiple civilizations, an essential destination while visiting Mexico City.

Only museum we visited in Mexico City, and was easily worth it. Set up so that the crowds proceed through the rooms depicting different periods in Mexican history, with interesting remnants, fossils, etc. from the various periods. Note that most of the explanatory signs are in Spanish, so a tour or audio guide (if available, I didn't check) might be helpful. Even without one, though, a fascinating tour through the rich history of this amazing country.

We were told this is a must see, and I agree. One of the best places I have seen to give a sense of the human origins of the Americas. Chronologically and regionally laid out exhibits. Could have been even better if they had English translations for all the exhibits. One could easily spend several days here - but plan on at least 2 hours.

A real gem in Mexico City, rich in history and cultural artifacts. The layout allows you to visit multiple amazing spaces traversing the history of central America. Best viewed with a guide, as the plaques are in Spanish with few translations.
