Impressive collection superbfully arranged of pieces of art and handicraft from all courners of this huge and varied country. Each section has an exhausting catalogue of items that show all different aspects of daily life, religion, art or any other form of human expression, all beautifully displayed with informative (and not oversaturated) explanations of the objects being shown.
The building itself, plus the gardens, the restaurant (tasty and not overpriced) and the shop, the staff... everything contributes to make this an unmissable visit in the city, and one of the most rewarding museums to be exploted anywhere in the world.
Be warned: you can spend here hours, days... whatever your interest in mankind and Mexico, or the combination of both, recommends your soul... and your legs.

This is the best musuem in town. If you only have 1 day in Mexico City, you should go. Fantastic overview of the pre hispanic civilizations. If not enough, the building itself is magnificent. Please, do not miss it.

a wonderful museum with a great selection of things to see. Very beautiful and educational. Not too large so a half-day is enough

Worth a visit -- located across from a lovely park, this museum is beautiful -- the collection is amazing and the outdoor spaces add to the grandeur -- well signed, the wealth of artifacts is stunning -- a must see

Be sure to look at the map they give you and work out which areas most interest you, otherwise you'll end up like us - rather worn out after a couple of hours and we hadn't reached a bunch of the stuff we particularly wanted to see.

And there is nowhere to sit in any of the galleries... so tough luck when your dogs start barking... they won't let you sit on the floor or a step or anything... and they're not nice about telling you, either!
