“A museum that compares well with British Museum or Berlin Museumsinsel”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Mexico is somehow lucky, that a time - before the Olympics in the 60ies, the Government embarked on massive infrastructure investments - AND Museum buildings.

How would I love to see Egypt or Tunisia or Libya copy this.

Today, its one of the best in the world.
And its the best starting place to tour Mexico.

“Great Museum”

An awesome museum! With Student ID's go in for free. The permanent collection is very interesting and complete. I would recommend this visit.

“Great museum, must see while in el DF”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

The Museo Nacional de Antropologia probably does not get as many American tourists as it should. We hired a professional tour guide outside the museum (a good idea--they are well trained, very thorough, and give you much more history and details about exhibits than you would get on your own. Well worth the money to hire a tour guide.) Unfortunately, the guide shared with us that they don't get many Americans coming through, mostly Europeans and other foreigners interested in the rich indigenous history and culture and Mexico. The museum is a national treasure though it looks like it could use some updating in some places. Still, a must see--you should not miss it.

I liked this Museum very much because it feels like a historical journey to the past. have very beautiful exhibitions and you can easily spend a few hours there without getting bored. would probably be nice for teens too.

“One of the best museums in the world”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

This is a beautiful museum, deserving two or three days to see everything on display. If you only have one day, focus on the Mayas, Aztecs and Teotihuacans. Kids love the displays as well, specially on the first room, "an introduction to Anthropology" full of miniature figurines about daily life in pre-historic villages.
