Highly recommend and it will take you 1/2 day or more to really see. It was very hot when we visited so hide your water as it's not allowed inside.

Although I have been here before, I am always taken with a visit here. You get the to know the many Mexicos that predate the Spanish's arrival. the museum itself is a marvel; the collection unique in the world.

I heard about it and my colleagues went the week before, they spent 3 hours. Well... I beat them. I spent 4 hours :). It's hundreds of exhibit, big & small, finely crafted model/ reproduction in some cases but all in all, it gave you a hint of how marvelous those civilization are. Probably I should have studied anthropology instead :). The pre classic, the Aztec, the Mayan, and all others. The audio guide while not provide all, it provides the explanation necessary to appreciate more. The entrance fee is 57 pesos, the audio guide 75 pesos, the restaurant buffet will cost you around 190 pesos (with juice). If you have time to spend, spend on it.

This was the greatest archeological museum I've ever been to. It blows the archeoloical collections at the Smithsonian away. It also had the best lunch in Mexico DF. Plan to spend all day if you are into mesoamerican archeology. Of course it helps to have a degree in Anthropology or Archeology. I truly loved this and have been multiple times and would go again without hesitation.

This enormous museum of 23 exhibition halls is wonderful. Make sure to start on the right hand side to enjoy the correct chronological order of the exhibits. The "official" highlights are the Monkey Cup, Pakals Tomb, the Jade Mask and the Sun Stone/Aztec Calender, but just thinking of these does poor justice to the marvelous collection of other things the museum also houses. There is exhibit after exhibit to astound and amaze and most are clearly explained in Spanish & English. Allow at least half a day for the visit. If you have energy, go to the upper floors where you can see what life is like for the indigenous groups in Mexico today. If there is a criticism it's probably that it's too big! But you can always rest, relax and people watch from the wide open central courtyard. On Sundays, Mexicans get in for free so it gets busier.
