You need to arrive early. You must start with the Aztec Chamber. The Aztec Calendar is surprising. If you have time, outside and in front the entrance of the museum, usually during weekends the " Flights of Papantla" is spectacular and something so Mexican. You will see how 4 guys flight hanging from a rope from a 70 ft mast.

Fascinating! You have to see the original Aztec calendar, just amazing! You'll need at least 3 hours to go to all the different rooms and while you're there you can stroll around in Chapultepec park.

Give yourself at least a full day here, as there is a lot to see. It has very high quality artifacts beautifully presented. The restaurant is excellent.

We arrived at around 2 and museo closes at 4:30. We don't think we can finish looking at everything. Luckily, after we buy the audio tour, the staff actually circled the important venues (the must-go venues!) before we asked so. They also gave a list of items and audio tour number.
Bad side is that many items and venues do not have audio tour number attached, but they do exist. We just stopped before items of interest and find the number on the list.

This museum is one of the best ones I've ever visited for their collection, which is large and includes impressive artifacts from all the major Indian cultures in Meso America (especially from the Aztecs), and also for the architecture of the building that houses the collection. The freestanding waterfall/mushroom at the entrance was well worth the visit alone! The museum is well-maintained and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. In total, I thought it was half a day well and pleasantly spent.
