Great location, affordable price. If you are looking for a hotel just to spend night or two - this is the place. Don't forget to grab food and drink to your room and ask for a top floor. You could seat right under the stars ))) Rooms are old and simple but clean enough. Not a romantic place.

If you have a strong immune system, by all means stay here because of the location, price, and other traps. The place only gives the illusion of cleaniness. Bathrooms in the lobby are always clogged and dirty (I stayed here for 7 nights in february). The maids, bless them, clean the toilet in the guest rooms with a rag, which then they use to wipe all the furniture (including surfaces where you put your own stuff. The cleaning workers do not take their rubber gloves off after cleaning and wringing the mop, and proceed to handle towels, toilet paper, and bedsheets with the same gloves on. The bottled water they put in the hallways on each floor (since they know you shouldnt drink tap water), are old mineral water bottles full of, you guessed, tap water. The waiter in the restaurant wipes the floors (both in the restaurant and in the lobby) with no gloves and without washing hands, doing this in between bringing dishes to the customers tables. The room carpets are filthy, although they are vacuumed, but by looking at the stains in mine and other rooms, i am sure that they have never been washed or shampoed, so always wear flip-flops. Do not use the "clean" glasses in each room or drink the "mineral" water they put in a jug in each room, unless you want to loose 15 lbs in 3 days. If you feel you wont catch anything because you have already been to mexico and nothing ever happenned to you, well, thats what i thought too.

Room Tip: You will have a choice between very noisy rooms facing the streets, or very dark rooms, with no wind...

I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights. The hotel is clean and the service is excellent. At times when you get into the elevator you get a strong stench. But I guess that's coming from the city old sewage system. The restaurant has good food at reasonable prices. the hotel location is ideal. Not very far by taxi from Plaza Garibaldi where you can enjoy the mariachi bands playing every night.

Big rooms; hot water; TV; easy walk to everywhere. Friendly staff. Tour operator in Lobby does not know a lot about where to go. Bar is fun as it is always full of local guys singing.

Room Tip: Rooms with balcony are noisy.

Here are the pluses and minuses of this hotel:

+ good location: few blocks from Zocalo or metro station, in the middle of busy shopping district
+ most rooms are really big and bright, many have balconies
+ good value In Mex DF
+ nice ambiance
+ very clean and big bathrooms with plenty of hot water

- there are some rooms without windows (horror, horror!) and some others with small window. They cost the same as those with window and balcony though...
- staff could be a little friendlier and more helpful, few times I needed sth from the front desk I felt like I'm bothering someone.
- wall-to-wall carpeting - they have nice wooden floor underneath them, but hotel chose to put these bacteria- and fungus-growing carpets instead. Not recommended for someone prone to allergies and respiratory problems (or anyone, for that matter).

Room Tip: Rooms without window are really bad value as they are also about 1/4 of the size of other rooms but...

We stayed for 2 nights.
Hotel is located 5 minutes walk from the nearest metro station and 10 minutes walk from central square.
The rate is very affordable.
Service is OK; not all the staff speak English.
Rooms are spacious. Furniture is not new, but OK. There was no air-conditioning, but in November we would barely need it.
Isabel street is pretty noisy in the mornings, but noise is bearable.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back side or at Republica Salvador street are quieter.

Stayed here back in feb 2010 on 2 different occasions. Really liked the place,
Rooms are huge and spacious and the restaurant serves OK food. The little bar on the left when you come in has a nice atmosphere.
BUT, without a doubt, the best thing is the location, only 5 min from the zucalo, how can you not love that!
