“Home of Marian Devotion”

A vast modern church that welcomes believers and the merely curious. Holy Mass is celebrated every hour and one can see devotees walking on their knees towards the altar.

“THE reason for our visit to Mexico City”
Reviewed May 7, 2014

We loved everything about our visit to the Basilica. We bought some rosaries across the street and received a Benediction of ourselves and them from a priest at the back of the New Basilica. There was mass going on the New Basilica, but we prayed a rosary in the Old One. I hope they can fix the sinking foundation of the Old One. We also accidentally got in line for the Capilla de Judamientos or something like that. This is for people addicted to drugs and alcohol to make a vow to give it up. It's right next to the Capilla de Los Indios, where St. Juan Diego is buried. The way they have constructed the conveyor belts below the image while being able to have mass above is an engineering feat. We loved it all.

“Main Catholic shrine of Mexico”
Reviewed May 5, 2014

I'm a lapsed Catholic but fascinated still by the ritual and kitsch of my old faith. Guadalupe is where you come to see Mexican Catholics in full fervour. We saw a waxwork figure of Pope John Paul II in death being venerated. You can also buy a rosary and get it blessed by a priest.

“The wonderful place”
Reviewed April 24, 2014

I had seen in my life many churches in my life, butthis sanctuary in exceptional. The new churc is extra wonder of modern architecture. Impressive is also the schedule of the mass (all the day>).
Also surrundungs of the churces(gardens, roses are extremelly beautiful).
Bsilica Ladey of Guadalupe is must-see point in Mexico.

“Must visit!”
Reviewed April 21, 2014 via mobile

I visited the shrine on palm sunday this year. It was packed but it was very organized that you could go in for mass, get your articles blessed and climb up and down the hill in no time.
