“Max is the perfect host; the Dakota is a great B&B.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2010

The Dakota is lovely, spotlessly clean. Max is the perfect host, the breakfasts are outstanding. The Dakota is in the perfect start position to go see everything in Mexico City. It is a block from the metro-bus that runs in its own dedicated traffic lane the entire length of the city. It's a few blocks from a metro subway stop, and cabs are abundant, right at the front door. And yet, the Dakota's neighborhood has the feel of, say, Greenwich Village in NYC -- a place that is greener, quieter, where the pace is calmer and apart from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the city. Max gave us great sight-seeing advice, including recommending the cab ride trip south to Coyoacan to Frida Kahlo's Blue House -- now a museum. The Dakota was our home away from home -- highly recommended.

My partner and I found the Dakota B&B on TripAdvisor, drawn by the rave reviews of former guests and the affordable rates. We are glad to report that we were completely happy with what we found--charming, comfortable rooms, delicious and abundant breakfasts, safe, relaxing and convenient location, and best of all Max, the proprietor, who loves his city and his country and seemed genuinely happy to be "summoned" via a little bell to give advice on how best to enjoy our few days in one of the world's great cities. Neither of us had been to Mexico City for many years and although we both live in U.S. cities (New York and San Francisco), we had some concerns before the trip about personal safety, air quality, and general Big City stress. Instead we fell in love--with Mexico City (which has made great strides in public safety and smog problems and which still has all those wonderful cultural offerings), with the Dakota B&B (our "home in Mexico City") and with Max and his wife who took such good care of us. We are telling all our friends--"You must go to Mexico! And you must stay with Max!"

Dakota was a friendly, clean and convenient place to stay. Max the owner was very helpful and the breakfasts were excellent. one of the best guest houses we have stayed in for the last seven months.

Hi to everybody from Turkey!!! I just returned from a few days in Mexico City, and I wanted to post this review immediately, although i never normally post reviews on any site. During my trip i stayed at the Dakota Bed&Breakfast which is run by a lovely family. When I arrived there Max was waiting for me with a big smile... This place was just what i needed. It was clean and comfortable. I was INCREDIBLY happy with the place.Max helped me find my way through the city, pointing out everything from stores to museums. He was really polite and helpful.
Dakota Bed&Breakfast is situated around 5 mins walk from the Metrobus Station and World Trade Center..Quite close to La Condesa, La Zona Rosa, Museum of Frida Kahlo.. It is in the central part of town too, so I felt completely safe. It's a relaxing atmosphere. I will definitely be staying there again. The dining room had different colours and types of seating and a great selection of wines for people of all countries. It also has free wifi!
I don't usually have breakfast, but I am glad I did, I had the chance to taste Quesadilla (Cheese with Typical Mexican Pan which called Tortilla), Crepes with strawberry, Fresh prepared Toronja juice (grapefruit)... And also i have to mention that they hadgreen-yasmin tea leaves to make tea, and coffee all the time..
It is a lovely base to see beautiful Mexico! All in all my trip was comfortable, safe and enjoyable...
I had a great time there and will definitely stay again on my next trip!!! It also recommended it to friends and family...

Lovely base to explore the city of Mexico. Close to the Metro bus so easy access to all the main sites of this great city. The rooms are designed well and are very funky. They are clean and spacious. Each room has their own bathroom. Communual lounge, dining area and kitchen. A great breakfast! Max, the owner, is a lovely guy who is keen to help and gave us some great tips about the city. He even got up at 4.30am to see us off!

I had a great three days at the Dakota. Excellent room, brilliant tourist advice and attention from Max the owner and an excellent and varied breakfast each morning.

Very well located within walking distance of Condesa and minutes from the WTC and a multitude of restaurants. Very highly recommended. I'll be back.

We stayed with Max, at Dakota, in January this year and are proud to give it a five star rating!

We have been travelling around the world for the past year and we can safely say Dakota is one of, if not, the best B&B we have stayed in whilst travelling.

Dakota B&B is in a great location, a stone's through away from the world trade centre and a cheap taxi ride away from the historic city centre. The price is surprisingly good value considering the very high standard of the accommodation. The decor is modern and tasteful with comfortable furnishings and quirky touches. The whole place is spotlessly clean and well kept. Dakota B&B has a communal kitchen with free tea (REAL TEA LEAVES) and coffee as well as an array of snacks and drinks to purchase. The breakfasts were amazing, we had fresh fruit (different each morning), cereals, freshly baked biscuits, sausages and eggs, and a selection of cold meats and cheese. All served with fresh juice, tea and coffee. Much more than we expected!

Max, the host, was fantastic. He was very helpful in suggesting points of interest in Mexico City and places to eat on a night. He has a wealth of knowledge about the city, surroundings, history and transport.

We hope to return to Mexico City, and when we do, we will definitely be staying with Max at Dakota B&B!

We highly recommend Dakota B&B to everyone.
