Owner description: Coyoacan, a former village and now one of the 16 boroughs of Mexico City, is a historic center. It is a popular place to visit, especially on weekends, because many of the original layouts, plazas and narrow streets have been preserved and date from the 16th to the early 20th centuries.

We took the train to this area. Although it was raining with hurricane like characteristics, you could not help but see the charm of the area. The buildings, churches, and streets were worth seeing. I also had a delicious pazole soup from the market there.

Coyoacan is one of the best places to visit in mexico city if you want to see how is the mexican culture.
Obviusly you have to go on weekend. In this distrit you can find historical places like Hernan Cortes's house who was a spanish concort, Frida Kalo's house o Leon Trosky house.

Its a really nice place to pass a family day. There are many things for eat (coffee, Mexican food like corn, quesadillas, churros or eat a icecream)

Coyoacan just might be my #1 place in D.F.. The atmosphere is really laid-back, there's a lot of history, fun street performances, live music, great food, amazing coffee...the list goes on and on.

To arrive, it's easy to take the subway (light green line). Get off the metro at the station called Viveros. From there, you can take a bus to the Coyoacan center, or walk. (If you walk, it's a good idea to orient yourself beforehand using Google Maps.)

Once there, be sure to check out the Jardin Centenario, Parroquia de San Juan Bautista, Hernan Cortes' old house, the Artisan's Market, La Conchita, and, IF it's early on a weekday, the Frida Kahlo Museum. (I tried to go first on a Sunday afternoon, and the line was insane).
Don't forget to grab a coffee at El Jarocho Cafe--some of the best coffee in the city, and one of Coyoacan's famous churros rellenos (a churro filled with cajeta is definitely a match made in heaven). The market has some good food, especially quesadillas, for a great price. Overall, it's a wonderful place to spend a good full day, or more.

I loved walking around Coyoacan. It's a very pleasant part of Mexico City, pretty with lots of interesting things to see, cafes to hang out, markets to buy veggies at.
