Owner description: Coyoacan, a former village and now one of the 16 boroughs of Mexico City, is a historic center. It is a popular place to visit, especially on weekends, because many of the original layouts, plazas and narrow streets have been preserved and date from the 16th to the early 20th centuries.

An absolutely enchanting neighborhood; I could've spent hours wandering the cobblestone lanes and admiring the beautifully preserved houses and churches. Upscale and very peaceful, it feels miraculously far from the hubbub of the rest of Mexico City. Definitely check out Diego Rivera's house while you're here.

We ate some great quesadillas (no cheese) in the market and saw the sweet old man who makes the pancakes in any shape you wish. By the way, apparently us dummies who think quesadilla has to have cheese don't know that it actually comes from the Nahuatl word for taco. Don't miss the hot chocolate - latte and if you come late at night you'll see traditional Aztec dancers. Don't miss Coyacan!

Give yourself a day to wander about and admire the beautiful homes, squares and three lined street of this amazing neighborhood.

one of the best historic, colonial places in the city, full of stories, good food and sometimes even music

So much things you can get here at probably the best prices. Very busy... but worth the walk. There are many places to eat and you can get souvenirs of all kinds here. Go with money cause you will want to spend!
