Owner description: Coyoacan, a former village and now one of the 16 boroughs of Mexico City, is a historic center. It is a popular place to visit, especially on weekends, because many of the original layouts, plazas and narrow streets have been preserved and date from the 16th to the early 20th centuries.

This is a lovely area. The houses all looked well kept and lots of trees lining the street. Great place to get coffee and churros. They have roaster on every corner so the smell of coffee is everywhere. Also looks like churros are very popular as the lines of lovals and teens to get them wre long but moving.

Take a breather after Casa Azul and walk the few blocks to the centre of the town. It is very charming with lots of interesting shops.

A great place for a wander after visiting the Frida Kahlo house. Very relaxed and green, with lots of character.

I could live here. This is what I imagined Mexico City to be like. Home to La Casa Azul and a vibrant central market, Coyoacan was truly charming.

We went to Coyoacan on Friday around 3 pm and spent the rest of the day there. My girlfriend loved it and took a picture of virtually everything she saw. She also liked the fact that there was a crafts market in this district were she bought souvenirs for her friends and family and some handmade jewelry for herself.
I personally got an impression that this district of Mexico City is very artistic and it is full of extraordinary people who like to express themselves in many ways. The only thing I didn't like there was the number of people who were high. The majority of them were not agressive, but I still couldn't feel 100% secure there.
Nevertheless, if you are looking for a beautiful neighbourhood with many things to do, go to Coyoacan and you can spend 3 to 4 hours there taking pictures, shopping and eating.
