Great access to aspects of her life - this is where she lived and worked! Everything you wanted to know is here - indoors and out.

“A must see: calm, beautiful and full of fascinating objects”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

ThIs is a real gem. A series of interconnecting rooms around a beautiful tropical garden, where Kahlo lived for most of her life. The house is painted white or in earthy blues and reds and is full of her works and the paintings and objects she collected. The rooms are essentially how they were when she and Diego Rivera (and for a while Leon Trotsky) lived there. You can feel what it must have been like when she was alive. Kahlo died here and her death mask and ashes are in her bedrooms upstairs. But this is house still full of life and wonder.

Allow two hours max unless you are a Kahlo obsessive. Would be fine for children over about 5.

Tickets are 70 pesos and there's a nice shady cafeteria in the garden.

The ticket office will also give you little maps to other DF attractions including Trotsky's house (10 mins walk away) and Kahlo and Rivera's famous double house linked with a bridge.

Recommended.

“Frida's always interesting”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

Frida's life was so totally unconventional that it's entertaining. You can get a true "feel" of what her life in her house was like. I love the kitchen -Mexican kitchens were exactly like that at the time, only this one is bright yellow! The videos are a mess.

“All you want to learn about Frida Kohalo”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

The place of her birth and of her death. Seeing all of her work and learned all her pains through out the years of her youth, adulthood, I was pretty emotional after the visit of this little blue house. What a life she had led and the faith she had in art and how she had expressed her heart and emotion into the paintings. Each brush stroke was painting by blood and labor.

Strongly encourage everyone who visits Mexico to go visit the museum!

“A most enjoyable museum and garden”

This was our 2nd visit and the museum keeps getting better. A wonderful collection of Frida's art plus a special exhibit of her skirts and blouses along with family photos.
