We are very experienced travellers and security conscious. We stopped in at new upscale Santa Clara Coffee shop on the San Jacinto Plaza / Saturday art market -- very slick and skilled theive(s) took purse from adjacent chair.

Be very careful and never let your gurard down; keep everything teathered, even when in a seemingly respectable place. Now I know why the Starbucks in Condessa had *2* ! security guards - the hypervigilance required in Mexcico City detracts from the overall experience.

I hope the merchants in San Jacinto Plaza (and the Police, who did not seem overly interested in the theft) do something to deal with the crime in their market, otherwise I would not recommend shopping there.

Tired of the hustle and bustle of DF? Well, after a week in the capital, I was ready for a small vacation without leaving the city. I jumped on the Metrobus and headed south to the La Bombilla station where I ended up only a couple short blocks from San Jacinto Plaza. In fact, in this part of San Angel, there are three small plazas in close proximity where on Saturdays artists and craftspeople come out and sell their creations. The entire neighborhood, starting near this plaza and ending up at Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera Y Frida Kahlo, is a great walk. Cobblestone streets, two-hundred year old homes (Casa de los Delphines), and the charm of old Mexico permeate the area. In additional to the art around the plaza, many good eateries can also be found (including El Cardinal) where one can take a leisurely brunch. Another great relaxing spot are the gardens of the San Jacinto Monestary. On a Saturday, you might be lucky enough to catch a wedding in the small church. I spent a whole afternoon strolling around this neighborhood. Upon my return to the Districto Historico, I was recharged and ready to take on the crowds and energy of downtown. See more of my strolls on my DF travel blog at http://searchingfordiego.blogspot.com.

gorgeous square, they sell art and go in to the Bazar del Sabado or saturday´s Bazar, open only on Saturday, with unique art pieces, a bit expensive. There you can have some quesadillas. When you leave, go for a ride through San Angel and Chimalistac
