Take the metro to Balderas, walk a short distance on Balderas and reach the low yellow building housing the market.
Inside there is a good selection of handicraft from all over Mexico, the walways are quite spacious and uncluttered, salesstaff kind and not overbearing! Count on spending a good part of the day !

Planned about two hours to do some souvenir shopping here. Ended up exceeding that and then going back the next day, there were so many interesting crafts, textiles, and other locally made objects. Be sure to check out surrounding spots including the Library and the large park to the south which has tons of great food vendors and tons of street vendors that are geared more towards locals than tourists.

I went there at 10:00am, unfortunately, many shops had not opened yet. So I recommend to get there after 11:00am or so. I am sure you can buy nice souvenir here :)

This market is splendid; the size if perfect; the stalls are varied and exciting, and strangely it all seems to come together to present a glorious picture of market life in the city.
We loved exploring the indoors as well as the outdoor areas, and if you don't have a great deal of time, but wish to experience a lovely market La Ciudadela is an excellent choice!

Very fun place to explore! Lots of vendors, not too aggressive. There were many similar items for sale but there were also some unique stalls. We also walked a short distance to the Mercado San Juan to see all of the exotic foods for sale there. It was a fun experience.
