Owner description: For a great selection of Mexican crafts, visit the Ciudadela, four blocks south of the Alameda Park on Balderas Avenue just south of Paseo de la Reforma. It's a semi-covered market that covers 16,000 square meters with more than 200 stalls. It's worth quite a chunk of time if you want the full tour. There are some great comedores (food stalls) if you need a pick-me-up snack or beverage.

This is a great market to pick up gifts/souvenirs or even little knick-knacks and jewellery. All prices can be bargained and most little shops are owned by someone in the family who makes the items back in their home town. Its been around for 75+ years and definitely the place to go for tourists and visitors alike.

Great quality and good prices. Don't miss the animals from oaxaca and the impressive art from Jalisco. Look for Artesano Huichol near the parking lot on the far north and buy directly from the artesians.

The Ciudadela is hands down the best place to find interesting unique crafts and souvenirs. Yes, some cheap crap mixed in, but fair prices for Mexico and generally you can barter. With hundreds of shops, it's definitely worth perusing an hour or two.
