“Nice hotel - but don't let your guard down”

This hotel offers great value and good location for walking to the sites around the Central Plaza of Mexico City. Free wifi and use of computers in business room. Be very aware of theft. We knew Mexico was a dangerous city and never expected to have a handbag stolen while sitting having breakfast in the hotel restaurant on first day. Security cameras showed the culpits dressed in suits. Be aware! Management apologetic.

We just stayed at this great hotel. It has been newly remodeled and the rooms are lovely clean and quiet. The staff were very helpful and friendly. And of course the location is excellent, right behind the cathedral one block from the zocalo. One room had a view of the cathedral dome. It has a contemporary look but I've had enough of "quaint" musty hotels. This one is fresh with windows, what a concept in MX hotels. Plus we paid around 70US for a room with two beds. I found cheaper but not this nice. I'll return to this retreat from the hussel bussel of the amazing city of MX.

Room Tip: As for a view of the cathedrL

excellent rate, for excellent place.in the very city center so that's easy to move around, everything is at hand.
rooms have been recently refurbished: they are confortable and clean. very good service. the only point to ... improve, is the breakfast, not an huge choice for traditional breakfast.
globally excellent.

We had two stays in Hotel Catedral during our recent visit to Mexico, and recommend it highly. The location, just a block behind Mexico City's main cathedral and plaza, the Zocalo, meant the hotel was really central, and easy walking distance to many sites including the Palacio Nacional, Templo Mehor, metro stations, restaurants, Palacia Postal, etc.
Facilities were really good, with free in-room wireless Internet, really helpful staff, tour desk (reasonable prices), buffet breakfast and a boxed brekky on the day we had to leave really early.
we will definitely stay here again if we ever return to Mexico!

This is the third consecutive year we have stayed at Hotel Catedral. It's always enjoyable, the rooms are smart, comfortable, quiet and secure. The bathrooms are immaculate and the water is always hot. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are tasty and restaurant staff very attentive. The view from the top is quite lovely of the cathedral, various archeological digs and the templo mayor. And the hotel is very convenient to the metro and easy walking distance to all of the centro historico. We will stay here again next time we're in this amazing city!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street have a better view, and aren't noisy, even on the first floor.

We arrived following a very long bus ride from San Antonio Texas and we were very tired. Upon arrival and somewhat disoriented we were greated by very professional, and kind staff who immediatly checked us in and took care of all our needs and desires. Initally we thought that there had to be something wrong because the price was so inexpensive but to our surprise we found it to be very clean, modern and efficient. It far exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend this hotel. And the location was great. Stay here and I promise you will have an excellent stay!

Stayed for 5 nights at Hotel Catedral and it was a very good experience. The area looked very safe to us, but it is also true that we were never back to the hotel after 10 or 10h30pm.

We were given a very nice room, just re-decorated: big room, comfortable bed, nice bathroom with purified water tap (great!), and with not outside balcony or window, it was quiet (maybe this is not the case for every room). Wifi worked. Breakfast, included in our rate, was OK (good variety and enough food), but we saw a difference between holidays mornings (we were there partly at Easter, with the hotel full of families) and normal days, where less clients made breakfast routine slightly easier.

Hotel staff were kind but there was something I did not like very much: we had booked the room well in advance, one of the cheap, non renovated rooms. Upon arrival we were informed that the room would not be available for the first night and we would be upgraded to one of the nice renovated rooms for the same price (good... I would say, though I do not like changing rooms in the middle of my stay) and also given the chance to keep that nicer room at slightly higher price for the rest of our stay (well, this is not what we had booked). Problem was that the final price was never very clear. We got a different price every time we asked. Not very reassuring. We kept the room and I think in the end we got a very good price (intended?). But I even had to insist to get a proper bill and not the simple credit card slip.

Still, I recommend it for the price we paid.
