My husband and I just returned from a four day weekend trip to Mexico City for pleasure. We couldn't have been happier with our choice of hotels. Completely lived up to the Four Seasons reputation. Great location a block from Chapueltapec Park (Archaeologic Museum, Modern Art Museum, Natural History Museum, and the Presidential Palace). Beautiful public and private facilities. Gorgeous, fragrant flowers throughout the hotel.
To start our visit we were upgraded to suite which included a beautiful living room, bedroom, 1 1/2 bathrooms, and two closets.. The rooms were flawlessly appointed: luxury linens, plenty of plugs, good lighting, a soaking tub, a large separate shower, double sinks in full bath, L'Occitane toiletries, and plenty of free bottled water. There was even a Nespresso machine. I'm sure the two flat screen televisions were great, but we aren't big TV watchers. We couldn't resist trying out the TV in the bathroom mirror. Lovely view of the beautiful courtyard. And free wifi for two devices (one of my pet peeves is paying for Internet).
Everyone from the bellman to the front desk staff and concierge were friendly and helpful. The concierge arranged dinner reservations and our airport transportation. A great plus is the hotel has an arrangement with a car service (all bilingual and friendly) which puts your mind to rest about transportation safety. We ate the buffet breakfast everyday outside in the beautiful courtyard which was great (fruit, pastries, tamales, quesadillas, chilequilles) and so filling that we didn't usually eat again until dinner (not inexpensive at $30 but good quality). The waitstaff were professional, attentive, and friendly. Even the housekeeping staff impressed us one night when we rushed out to a late dinner at 9pm and returned to find all of the clothes we had dropped over the chair folded, the towels replaced, and the bed turned down.
There was construction going on in the next block, but we were sightseeing during most of the day and never really noticed it. Our windows (which you could actually open) facing the courtyard made for a quiet nights sleep. We were too busy to check out the pool and gym except for a quick peek; it looked more than adequate.
We enjoyed our time at the Four Seasons and wouldn't hesitate to return. I hadn't been in Mexico City for more than 25 years and was a little worried about safety issues, but if you use common sense and follow the hotel's recommendations you shouldn't have any problems.
