“Excellent but wrong location”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

This is a really nice hotel, built around a courtyard, with good restaurants, if a slightly limited menu. The rooms are up to the usual Four Seasons standards, but can be a long walk from the elevators. The one problem, is that it is slightly out of the business district and with Mexico City traffic, can take for ever to go anywhere.

What a wonderful hotel. The staff in outstanding, always ready with a greeting and available to help you at any time. The breakfast is excellent and the Sunday brunch is out of this world!
After a day of sightseeing, how delightful to arrive to this oasis of peace and serenity with a drink at the outdoor bar and a dip in the pool and hot tub. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Mexico City.

Hotel grounds are nice, rooms were average. I had a room overlooking a construction site. Sunday I was expecting to wake up late due to a wedding that went late into the night. Unfortunately construction noise was heavy and kept me awake. The gardens are beautiful, but the construction nearby of the high rise is an eyesore. Restaurant was nice and so was the food. Service great.

We just returned from a great visit to Mexico City which included five nights at the Four Seasons. The service and staff were uniformly excellent and always friendly and helpful (while we expect this level of service from any Four Seasons, nevertheless it makes a great trip even better). The hotel has a beautiful interior courtyard which accommodates both the bar and restaurant. As we ate lunch out on tours which is the main meal of the day in Mexico, we had evening meals at the Hotel. The food is excellent (try some Mexican wine, you'll be surprised how good it is). On the downside, be aware that Mexico City is at 2400m elevation (I had altitude sickness for much of the time although I consider myself to be in good shape aerobically). Also, traffic congestion is horrendous. I recommend most tourists should stick to guided tours.

Room Tip: Get an interior room that overlooks the Hotel's central courtyard.

Dear TheSterns,

Thank you very much for writing this review. I am happy to hear that you found our staff friendly and helpful and that you had a great time in the city. I hope to see you back soon and that the altitude do not affect you so much next time.

I stay in the Four Seasons every year. It is really a beautiful hotel, with spotlessly clean and very comfortable guest rooms. I spend about 70 nights a year in hotels, and this is one of my favorites.
But I have one comment that I need to pass on. You can get a taxi from the airport to the hotel for around 200 Pesos. A hotel-provided car is nearly 1500 Pesos! I know that the hotel car is a lot nicer, but 7.5 times the price?? I think not.
Other than that though, I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

We decided to visit Mexico City for our 45th wedding anniversary and chose the Four Seasons for this special event, which was noted on the reservation form. We thought that perhaps we would receive some sort of small acknowledgement sent to the room.

We were quite surprised and appreciative of the attention to detail by the staff. Reception greeted us with a casual comment about the anniversary. Several staff members signed a lovely congratulations card; Reforma 500 restaurant comp'd us with a delicious chocolate pate dessert. Other staff members stopped us in the halls to wish us a happy anniversary; we aren't sure how those people even knew of our special day.

Before arriving, we asked for suggestions for sightseeing. A package of information was emailed, we made our selections. The concierge arranged 4 days of sightseeing with a driver/guide who was knowledgeable and a safe driver. The tours were interesting and varied. We moved at our own pace; we saw and did a lot.

The cleaning schedule for our particular room was about 3:30 in the afternoon. We asked for an earlier housekeeping time. Done! Immediately changed. And, the change made for an more enjoyable stay. They also adjusted the time for the nightly turn-down service.

The 4 Seasons, Mexico City, is one of the best, anywhere! The employees are friendly, but not overly. English, if needed, is spoken. The rooms were well-appointed, comfortable. We thought the room was a little stale upon arrival, but after one day of occupancy, housekeeping had it refreshed.

There is a huge construction site near the hotel. We were not on the side of the hotel that could observe the construction from our room. And, although it seemed like they worked 24/7 and we slept with our windows open, we did not find the noise obtrusive. At night, they did 'quiet' work...whatever that would be on a construction site.

After asking on the first day for 'margaritas' to be made with vodka, not tequila, for the rest of our stay, the wait staff would inquire as to whether we wanted the usual. We were impressed with the level of service and that the rotating staff remembered our preferences. The restaurant and bar have different menus and indoor/outdoor seating. All the food was excellent and nicely presented; the service was very professional.

The Four Seasons, Mexico City, is all about serving and pleasing....just ask. But don't be surprised if they have already anticipated and surpassed your expectations.

Thank you to all who made our stay so memorable.

Room Tip: To avoid hearing street noises, request a garden view room. Some rooms are quite far from the eleva...

Great location. Walking distance to some key spots. Slightly older rooms, but good size. Went with friends, so was able to get connecting rooms. Nice to have a pool and hot tub in the city. Great food and cocktails at the restaurant.
