We chose this restaurant because of it's proximity to the Auditorio Nacional and went for a late lunch before an Elton John concert. The inside part is grand and Parisian with attractive murals, but a bit dark for lunch so we sat outside on the nice little terrace. Everything started out well enough and we all liked our starters, especially my Endive, Pear and Roquefort salad that was a whole, enormous endive. Three of us ordered the much recommended steak with Foie Gras, mine was perfect but 2 others were very underdone. The fat French fries were attractive and good but the limpish watercress dumped on the side of the plate, unimaginative and sad. The lamb didn't look very nice, but apparently was, and the Sashimi was abundant and delicious.
The problem was the service which started out all right (even the Sommelier, not usually known for their charm, was not TOO stand-offish) but slowed down to completely non-existant towards the end of the meal. I am guessing it was staff meal time. We had allowed plenty of time to eat but ended up panicking as we waited and waited and waited for the bill, ... I am still waiting for the electronic invoice which as of today has not arrived.
It was a very expensive meal and I know that you can do better both in quality and price within a few blocks.
