“Nice!!”

La Casa del Dante is an amazing place built just outside Guanajuato. The place is well maintained, very nice staff for a hostel, from the balcony we had a great view. Dante is super nice and very helpful. If you don't mind walking up a few steps to the hostel it will definitely be worth it.

Staying in this hostel in Guanajuato for two nights was a great experience. The single room I booked was excellent with great views and the breakfast, freshly prepared by a lovely Mexican grandma every morning, was simply wonderful. The clean and colorful interior with many common spaces was very nice and allows for easy interaction.

This place exceeds hostel standards by a lot and is highly recommendable. The stairs and the 15 minute walk to downtown posed no problem to me, may however be considered one for travelers with physical impairments. I fully agree to the positive aspects fellow reviewers voiced on this platform and would stay there again when returning to Guanajuato.

What an amazing hostel! The view is breathtaking, the rooms are really clean and nicely decorated. The whole atmosphere is really relaxing and friendly. Irene and Dante are the greatest staff I've ever met, they made me feel at home. The breakfast is plenty, delicious, healthy and mexican. The hostel cost a bit more than others in Guanajuato, but it's worth every peso! I wouldn't stay anywhere else in the city.

Stayed at Casa de Dante for a weekend for my boyfriend's birthday. This is a perfect place to bring your sweetheart. The view is dazzling both night and day. You get a full view of the city and surrounding mountains plus the stars. Our room (see room tips) had a deck and there are a variety of other public decks with plants, all charmingly decorated. The hostel decor is Mexican to the max, really colourful and cheerful. There are dorms here but the place feels like someone's home. It was a really quiet, courteous environment. The best part was definitely the breakfasts! We met plenty of other travelers while being fed to the gills by the hostess, a wonderful woman who feels like the Mexican mom you never had. She served us tasty fruit drinks, fresh fruit, the best cafe olla I've had, and really whatever you wanted to eat. We had great chicken flautas, cheese quesadillas, eggs with veg or chorizo, and chilaquiles! And she caters to vegetarians. The price is worth it for the meal alone! We didn't need to eat again until dinner. Only downsides: wifi only works on the main floor, it's about a 15+ minute walk to downtown, the infamous stairs (but a great reason to eat more!), and our bed was a bit hard.

Room Tip: Room #10 has a deck (non-private but no one else ventured up there) with a terrific view and plants...

We highly recommend Casa de Dante if you're looking for a place to stay in the beautiful city of Guanajuato. The first time walking up the steps to the hostel can be a bit exhausting, but you soon get used to it and the beautiful view of the city from the rooftop terrace makes it worth the climb. The staff was very pleasant and helpful and you could really tell that the hostel was very well managed and cared for with pride. Out of all of these things, probably the most memorable thing for me are the breakfasts; excellent traditional fare but with an inventive something extra that really made you take notice. For example one breakfast featured a huge molcajete of guacamole, quesadillas with queso and flor de calabaza and amaranth baked into the tortilla and a pitcher of a juice called "oro negro" which looked like used motor oil but was a delicious mixture of jugo de naranja y jugo de chico zapote. Just wonderful.

This was my second time in Guanajuato and I stayed three nights at La Casa de Dante.
The room and the bathroom were immaculate with a gorgeous view of the city ( the Casa is locate on a hill).

The best of it all was the hostess - warming, friendly and knowledgeable, and her breakfasts!
I really felt like at home.

The Casa is located about 15 min leisurely stroll from downtown, on a staircase street "callejon" typical for Guanajuato. I felt very secure and was getting back to the hotel late at night without any issue. Stay here if you want to get a feeling of living among local people and taste authentic mexican breakfast.

I will definitely come back soon!

I came to the Casa de Dante after spending a night in another hostel, also rated well on TripAdvisor, that was not clean and had bugs. The room at Casa de Dante was simple but clean. The people at Casa de Dante are friendly. The balconies have great views of the city. There was always drinking water available. Despite what I read in other reviews, the shower in my room was always hot. I liked that Casa de Dante was a bit removed from the main downtown, so I woke up to the sounds of roosters, not traffic, but it was still a short walk to the market and the center of town.
