The staff was friendly and wonderful! They were doing renovations on the double twin room that my girlfriend and I booked so they put us in two beautiful rooms of our own with a shared bathroom... The azul and blanco room. They were beautiful along with the bathroom. I looooove this place!!

My husband and I just finished a two night stay at El Zopilote Mojado. (The name sounds better in Spanish. It translates to The Drenched Buzzard.) We paid $60 a night for a quiet double room with good lighting, plenty of storage, charming decor and a private bath with a large walk in shower. We stayed in the Blue room which is in the main building above the cafe at the back of the building. We heard no street noise. We always travel with white noise on an Iphone, but we probably didn't need it here. The place is spotless. The price does not include breakfast, but it is available (except on Sunday) at the cafe below. There was a fixed price breakfast for about $5.50 that included fresh fruit, a choice of eggs (or quesadillas), coffee and toast. The location is very convenient to all the "must sees" in the center of the city.
Having a car in Guanajuato seems like it would be more of a nuisance than a plus. To get to the Zopilote Mojado, you have to climb the equivalent of about 4 flights of steps. It is on a pedestrian only street next to the Plaza Meximora. We caught a taxi right on the street below (in front of the Teatro Principal) with no problem for a $4 ride to the Guanajuato Bus Station which is a ways out of town. ((BTW, the bus station is also spotless, comfortable and well organized.)

Room Tip: We were in the Blue Room which was very quiet and had a large bathroom. You enter the room through...

We just spent the week in Guanajuato, as a guest at El Zopilote Mojado. It is a wonderful place to stay. We were in the Bufa room, so had a large, private patio overlooking the city. Our building was across a small plaza from the main hotel and restaurant. The hotel is in a neighborhood but about a 5 minute walk to the main square. Restaurants and shops nearby. Easy to get cabs and buses. The manager, Gabriel, is gracious and helpful. The staff also. We felt welcomed the moment we entered the front door. We ate breakfast at the hotel some mornings. We also had our first and last nights' dinners there. Good food. I would stay again on my next visit and recommend it.

Room Tip: We liked the Bufa room because it was on the roof and the private terrace had great views. But you...

So central and convenient, El Zopilote Mojado sits on a walking plaza--no traffic sounds. It is very tasteful and, being small, the service is personal. The rooms are private and beautiful, and the rooftop terrace has a stunning view. A very high-quality experience. I will be back--with friends.

This inn is perfect in location and accomodations. The staff is very welcoming and the accomodations were excellent - a perfect blend of bohemia and luxury. I definitely will return and have no reservations about recommending Zopilote to others. Adios!

This small hotel in El Centro was perfect for me. First of all, the location is superbly convenient: Plaza Mexiamoro is a very short walk to Cantarranas, Jardin de la Union, Jardin Reforma, and all the shops. I rented one of the apartments, which was a few steps away up a narrow alley and very importantly was very quiet, peaceful, and away from the noise. It is very well kept, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I could have not been more pleased on this 7 day trip back to Guanajuato, and look forward to returning.
PS: The bedspread on the very comfortable bed was beautiful.
