Great location, nice building etc, but no security!
Don't be fooled by the padlocks on the doors. We stayed in a private room. The door didn't close properly, the window didn't lock and there was no way of being secure when we were in the room as there was no locking mechanism from the inside of the room. We just had to sleep at night and hope for the best.
It was no surprise really when we were out one night and came back to find that our bag had been slashed and things had been stolen from the room. There was also a European guy that was hanging around the hostel constantly. We found it strange that he was a traveller in Guanajuato, where there is so much to see and do, but he was always hanging around the hostel.
The owner of the hostel tried to help us by selling us an overpriced second hand suitcase ($2000 pesos, who was he kidding?) He also accompanied us to the police station, which was frustrating, because I felt like I couldn't say what I wanted to say with him listening.
If you do stay here, do it in a group of friends and don't take any valuable items.
I would never stay there again.
