“Best value for your $$”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

You cannot come to Guanajuato and not eat at Truco 7! It's a fun and funky little spot with lots of cool antiques and trinkets adorning the walls and shelves--very flea market-ish.

But don't expect quick service! Plan to take your time. It's worth your while.

“My favorite restaurant in GTO”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

A great little (or rather big once you get inside) hole in the wall tucked back on a side street next to the Basilica. They offer a delicious and economical menu del dia for lunch each day which always includes a vegetarian option. At night you can order typical Mexican favorites from their menu. My parents liked the place so much that we ate there for dinner two nights in a row!

“It is what it is. Fairly priced Mexican food near centro”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 25, 2012

This place is listed in all the travel books as where to go and get authentic Mexican food on the cheap, which is precisely what it is. A budget option, near centro, that serves big portions at prices the locals can afford. Is the food the best? Beyond the mole, which was really good, it was all okay. Not terrible by any means but nothing made me go, "Oh, I've got to come back for this."

Service was nice enough but don't expect A class service when you are paying a few bucks per person. The place is decorated crazy, with old tools, posters for pornos, statues and Mexican folk art all featured amongst the sprawling space. Definitely an eclectic taste of decorations!

Is it worth going to? Yeah, I'd say so, as that mole was really good. It's a gut bomb though, so order one to share or plan on not eating the rest of the day!

“Undoubtedly the most overrated restaurant in Guanajuato.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2012

Most people will tell you it's good, some even tell you is a must visit place in the city, but the truth is that service is mediocre, & when they serve you refrigerated orange juice in an old plastic cup for 18 pesos it's not even worth being called a restaurant (even @ Mercado Hidalgo they serve fresh juice in a tall glass).
The menu is poor, but it has something for every non-adventurous customer. the place is comfortable & decent enough, food is acceptable, but acceptable should not be enough for a restaurant with such reputation.
The best that can be said of this place is that it has a good quality-price relationship: it's unexpensive so don't expect much.

“Good enmoladas & good enchiladas mineras”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012 via mobile

I like the atmos, various seating areas to choose from...old jazz music. Nice.
The food isnt incredible but the prices are reasonable and it's a safe choice.
I like eating there alone & enjoying some peace and a good beer.
