We have been to GTO many times. Don't know how I missed this gem! Beautifully restored Hacienda with a great story of the residents to go with it. CARLOS (speaks perfect English) was our guide and he makes this home and gardens come to life. There are (17) gardens and they are especially nice on a pretty day. There are so many photo ops ($20 pesos extra for picture taking and so worth it!). We spent about an hour here, but if you have time, relax and enjoy your favorite setting amidst the grounds. Mystery, deception, intrigue dating from the 1700s. You will get a glimpse of what life was like in Guanajuato over the last few hundred years. Glad we went. Visited on 9/13/2013.

I stayed in the hotel next door and spent parts of several days
taking photos of the house and of the ornamental gardens on the grounds.

I highly recommend taking a tour with an indipendent tour guide. He makes his living on the "tips" you give him at the end of the tour of the hacienda. Carlos was especially good. Brought the history of the hacienda as well as customs and social normes of the 17th century alive. Lots of humour as well. The grounds are breathtakingly beautiful to top it all off, so pay the extra and take your camera!

Definitely worth the 22 peso entry fee, this place offers a wonderful look into Mexico's past, and the excellent bi-lingual guide offered many insights into the history, culture, and social life of those that lived on the Hacienda. Nice little cafe on site, free bathrooms, and scores of foto opportunities. A taxi ride from the center of GTO was 45 pesos. To get a cab back to town, exit the hacienda, walk about fifty yards up the hill to the left, and ask the clerk at the hotel desk to call you a cab. He'll give you the cab's number. You can also take the bus.

Lovely and peaceful gardens. Well maintained. Take a nice rest on one of the theme gardens. Your visit will last no more than 1 hour.
